MAFS Star Bec Zacharia Admits Deep Regret Over Dinner Party Behaviour
Married At First Sight participant Bec Zacharia has publicly confessed to profound regret regarding her actions during Wednesday's explosive dinner party episode, specifically her failure to defend fellow bride Stella Mickunaite during a series of vicious verbal attacks.
Confronting Viewing Experience
Speaking candidly with Daily Mail, Zacharia described watching the footage back as "confronting and upsetting", expressing significant disappointment in her own conduct. "I have such huge disappointment in myself, because I don't act this way," she revealed. "The fact that I was even sitting on that side of the table was atrocious."
The 32-year-old Stella Mickunaite found herself targeted by controversial bride Brook Crompton and fellow participant Gia Fleur in a barrage of hostile remarks that also implicated Alissa Fay. Rather than intervening, Zacharia acknowledged she had aligned herself with Crompton and Fleur, particularly during their coordinated assault on Fay.
Public Apologies Issued
"It's not acceptable to not stand up for these poor women who are getting absolutely throttled by bullies," Zacharia continued. "And I became one for a night and it's not okay. I need to take a long hard look at myself."
She explained that her animosity toward Alissa Fay stemmed from claims by Gia Fleur and her husband Scott McCristal that Fay had labelled Zacharia's relationship "fake". Despite this alleged provocation, Zacharia now wishes she had responded differently.
"Instead of standing up for Stella or pulling Alissa aside, instead I sat there and allowed this all to happen and it's not all right," she admitted. "I should have practiced what I preached so I'm just as guilty as the rest of them."
Collective Responsibility Acknowledged
Zacharia extended this criticism to all silent observers at the dinner party, stating: "Whoever sat there quiet also owes Stella and Alissa an apology, all of us are just as bad for not shutting it down."
She confirmed having already apologised to Alissa Fay multiple times and publicly extending an apology to Stella Mickunaite. "I apologised to Stella publicly for not standing up for her," Zacharia said. "I've apologised profusely multiple times to Alissa – she was at my birthday party on the weekend. I didn't attack Stella but I think she is owed an apology from me and everyone at the table for not coming to her defence."
Rejecting Production Manipulation Claims
Zacharia also addressed Gia Fleur's post-episode assertions that producers engineered the conflict and that she received a "bad edit". "This is not an edit," Zacharia countered firmly. "What happened is what happened. No producer can make you go in there and scream at people."
She elaborated: "But to say that, behind the scenes, the producers are making you do this is absolute bulls*** and I think she needs to be a big girl and take accountability."
Defending Stella Against False Narratives
Zacharia further defended Stella Mickunaite against suggestions by Gia Fleur that she had been "flirty" with other husbands during the experiment. "Stella has never flirted with any of our husbands ever and to create that narrative about someone is extremely damaging," she asserted. "It's categorically untrue and that narrative is entirely fabricated."
Pleading for Viewer Understanding
Acknowledging that her actions may have earned her a "villain" label among viewers, Zacharia appealed for compassion. "I'm hated by everyone it seems," she noted. "I've had more hate messages overnight than I think there are comments on Instagram. That's fine, I've got a thick skin."
"It's deserved but, at the same time, I'm a human being and we all make mistakes," she concluded. "I'm asking for a little bit of grace."
Dinner Party Confrontation Details
The controversial episode featured Brook Crompton launching multiple aggressive verbal assaults while Stella Mickunaite endured the vitriolic barrage. Crompton told Mickunaite: "You need to have a clue and realise. I'm standing up for myself because I see someone like you: 'I'm so deep, I'm so deep.' I don't think you're deep, I just think you're f***ing dumb."
When Mickunaite responded that Crompton had been "barking at other women" all evening, Gia Fleur interjected: "Barking, babe. That's lovely. Why don't you go back in your kennel, babe."
After being labelled a "very rude b***h" by Crompton, Mickunaite attempted to de-escalate the situation before leaving the table. Crompton, however, continued her personal attacks, commenting on Mickunaite's footwear: "Hey babe, while you're at it, get the stripper boots off. If you're going to buy stripper boots, buy 100 per cent lamb, don't buy fake leather."
The confrontation intensified when Alissa Fay, 33, urged Crompton to moderate her attacks, prompting Crompton to tell Fay to "shut up" and call her an "idiot". This exchange emboldened Gia Fleur and Bec Zacharia to join the criticism of Fay.
"You wonder why everyone hates you, babe, that's why," Fleur told Fay, with Zacharia enthusiastically agreeing with the sentiment.
