Miley Cyrus Jokingly Labels Superfan Alex Cooper 'Creepy' for Moving Next Door

Pop icon Miley Cyrus has playfully branded podcast host Alex Cooper "kind of creepy" after the self-confessed superfan relocated to become her next-door neighbour in Los Angeles. The remarks were made during Cyrus's speech at the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special premiere on Tuesday, where Cooper served as host.

Neighbourhood Dynamics and Fan Dedication

Cyrus, 33, explained she selected Cooper, 31, to host the Disney+ reunion special because she knew the Call Her Daddy star was a massive fan of the original Disney Channel series. Onstage, the singer teased, "And Alex being a superfan, kinda creepy," eliciting laughter from the audience. She added, "She's also my neighbour, which is also creepy. She got money, and then she moved next door to me. Yeah, it was weird."

The Disney legend recounted that Cooper appeared surprised upon realising she had moved into a house in Cyrus's Studio City neighbourhood, until the pop star reminded her of a previous podcast interview at her home in 2020. Cyrus purchased her ranch in 2011, while Cooper moved into the area in 2022 with her now-husband Matt Kaplan.

Collaboration on the Anniversary Special

Despite the humorous jabs, Cyrus expressed gratitude, stating, "But anyways, thank you for being this host. Thank you for being so insanely dedicated to Hannah Montana." Cooper played a key role in planning the special by advising on what fans desired, including a guest appearance by Selena Gomez and nostalgic touches like the show's transition music.

Lyrics Banter and Tattoo Revelation

In a pre-special Variety YouTube video, Cyrus further poked fun at Cooper's fandom. When quizzed on Hannah Montana song lyrics, Cyrus easily identified lines from "Rockstar," reading out "Tai Chi practicing, snowboard champion/I could fix the flat on your car." She then called out Cooper for not knowing the lyrics, despite having them tattooed on her arms.

Cyrus told Variety, "I know this because this is Alex Cooper, who hosted the Hannah 20th Special, this is her favorite Hannah Montana song. I asked her, does she actually know the lyrics to it? And she never knew that it says 'Tai Chi practicing, snowboard champion.' She does have it tattooed on her arms, so I don't know how she forgot."

Legacy of Hannah Montana

The iconic series Hannah Montana, which aired from 2006 to 2011, followed Cyrus's character Miley Stewart as she balanced life as a high school student with her secret identity as global pop sensation Hannah Montana, activated by donning a signature blonde wig. The anniversary special celebrates this cultural phenomenon, blending nostalgia with contemporary insights from Cyrus and dedicated fans like Cooper.
