In an exclusive revelation, Noel Gallagher, the iconic Oasis guitarist known for his rock 'n' roll persona, has unveiled a surprising talent far removed from the music stage. The 58-year-old star recently indulged in a two-hour private appointment at celebrity perfume designer Azzi Glasser's London atelier, showcasing an unexpected flair for high-end scents and aromas.
A Rock Star's Refined Nose
According to Azzi Glasser, whose Perfumer's Story label boasts clients like Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, Gallagher possesses a remarkably good sense of smell. "Noel loves his scents and smells. He's great—he's so funny, absolutely brilliant," Azzi exclusively told The Mirror. She expressed surprise at his choice of the £259 Mystere Vetivert, describing it as "really sensual, richer than rich, really dapper," and noted that his appreciation for fragrances goes beyond typical expectations.
Luxury Purchases and Scented Selections
During the £1,500 appointment, Gallagher selected several items, including the Tuscan Suede fragrance, praised for its classic, sophisticated, and romantic notes. He also acquired multiple scented candles priced at £65 each, such as Black Moss, Fig Ambrette, Rain on Earth, and Chiltern Firehouse, which he uses to enhance the ambiance of his home.
Black Moss is infused with patchouli, a pink-flowered plant known to stimulate the release of serotonin and dopamine, promoting feelings of happiness. Fig Ambrette offers a sweet, fruity aroma, while Rain on Earth holds a unique backstory: it was originally commissioned by former Prime Minister David Cameron for the Great British Festival of Creativity in 2012, designed to evoke the scent of Britain with notes of wet earth and rain hitting pavements.
Insights into Gallagher's Character
Azzi highlighted Gallagher's loyalty as a customer and his intelligent approach to scents. "We were trying to find a fragrance that would suit his character and style," she explained. "With Noel, what you see on the outside is not always what you see on the inside. He's got a good nose. He's quite intelligent on that front—he knows his candle scents and he wants his house to smell good. Some guys are great in that department, and some just aren't."
This revelation adds a new dimension to the public image of the Wonderwall hitmaker, known for his straight-talking attitude and musical prowess. It underscores a hidden passion for luxury and refinement that contrasts with his rock star exterior.
