Olivia Attwood Opens Up About Coping with Split Through Busy Schedule
Olivia Attwood has shared a poignant message about her need to stay busy to maintain her wellbeing, following her first Valentine's Day alone in two decades after separating from husband Bradley Dack. The 34-year-old presenter confirmed the split from the 32-year-old footballer earlier this month in an emotional statement, with reports suggesting their three-year marriage ended due to him crossing a line and breaching her trust.
Keeping Distracted on Valentine's Day
With Saturday marking her first Valentine's Day without a partner since she was a teenager, Olivia kept herself occupied through a series of activities. She embarked on a shopping spree, attended the BAFTA Rising Star event, covered FAULT magazine, and celebrated a new brand partnership with Garnier. On Sunday, she took to her Instagram Stories to explain the heartfelt reason behind her jam-packed schedule.
Olivia reshared a touching social media video that stated: 'Forever the girl who needs to stay busy to be okay'. The day prior, she revealed how she spent her Saturday, writing: 'Happy Valentine's Day my cherubs I love you all so much x. My first Valentines without a boyfriend since I was like 14 years old lol so I took myself shopping obvs.'
Pouring Energy into Work
The host of ITV's upcoming show The Heat has reportedly been pouring every ounce of her energy into work since news of the split emerged in January, just two years after the couple tied the knot. Olivia has spoken candidly about the difficulties of navigating the relationship breakdown while managing a demanding professional life.
Alongside her Olivia's House podcast and KISS FM radio show, which she co-hosts with Pete Wicks, she has continued filming the next instalment of her documentary series Getting Filthy Rich and is now celebrating her latest collaboration with Garnier. She put her marital woes aside on Thursday night as she was unveiled as the new face of the skincare brand at a bash at The Newman Hotel, leaving with Pete and friends in the early hours of Friday morning.
Openness About Relationship Struggles
Last week, the newly single star explained how she is 'working out a lot' and 'filming a lot' to keep herself distracted. Teasing her new ITV show The Heat, she posted on Instagram: 'What I told you about work being busy lol... brand new tele. I promise you don't want to miss this...'. The show will feature her tracking ten young chefs as they work under multi Michelin Star chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
Olivia had been open with her fanbase over the past year about the struggles in her marriage while juggling her career. She admitted the couple had endured a 'challenging' six months when asked about their relationship in September, shortly after she was pictured looking close to Pete on a boat in Ibiza.
Navigating Busy Schedules
Olivia explained that as her career continued to soar, with recommissions of all her TV shows including Getting Filthy Rich, it took priority in her relationship, and she and Bradley were constantly trying to navigate their busy schedules. She told the Daily Mail: 'Me and Brad never pretend to have a perfect relationship, we have been up, down, left, backwards, and the last six months have been really challenging for us.'
'My work and his work take precedence over everything, we have to navigate our relationship all the time. It's the boring side of being an adult in a long term relationship, we constantly have to work at it and that's just the truth. No one else really wants to say that part out loud but it is difficult at times.'
Addressing the Breakdown
Reports have now claimed that Olivia and Bradley's marriage ended after the footballer 'crossed a line' and 'breached her trust'. Addressing the breakdown, Olivia recently said: 'I keep opening Instagram to post but I don't know what to say or do? lol vulnerability is not my bag!!! Especially on social media, it feels very much like bleeding in shark infested waters..'
She continued: 'I cry myself to sleep, then business as normal when the alarm goes off at 5am and it has been like that for a long time. But also so much change in such a short amount of time (you know I hate that (Taurus). I never expected to be moving into this apartment alone. And I'm in over my depth for sure.'
Olivia added: 'I want to be happy. I want Brad to be happy. Just one day at a time. For both of us. & anyone else who needs to read this. Normal programming and chatting will resume asap. Ps thank you, I feel your love immensely.'
