Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova has delivered a powerful message about body acceptance and aging in a candid new Instagram video. The 60-year-old star, who is a vocal advocate for body and age positivity, stripped down to a pink lingerie set while recording the clip from the comfort of her own home.
A Youthful Figure and Honest Reflections
In the video, Porizkova showcased her impressively youthful physique while engaging directly with her substantial following of 1.4 million Instagram users. She openly addressed her recent weight gain, revealing to viewers, "In the last few years I've gained like 15lbs." This admission set the tone for a remarkably transparent discussion about the realities of aging in the public eye.
Addressing the 'Fabulous at 60' Question
When responding to the inevitable question about how she maintains such a fabulous appearance at sixty, Porizkova provided a refreshingly honest answer. "It's all just in good light and posing," she explained with characteristic frankness. To demonstrate her point, she zoomed in on one arm, pulling at the skin to show its natural texture. "The reality is this: I'm 60-years-old. This is what it looks like," she stated matter-of-factly.
She continued her body-positive commentary by addressing her stomach area with similar candor. "And this tummy is not going anywhere. Also, it carried two children," Porizkova noted, referring to her sons Jonathan, 32, and Oliver, 27. "And that's... doesn't matter how many Pilates lessons and how much weight I lift – the skin is just the skin." Despite these acknowledgments of physical changes, she concluded this segment with a powerful declaration: "But you know what? I like myself better this way."
The Caption's Deeper Context
In the accompanying caption, Porizkova expanded on her video's themes with even greater depth. "Smoke and mirrors, folks. That’s how you make it look good for a moment. The truth is, gravity takes its toll," she wrote. However, she immediately countered this observation with an uplifting perspective: "But! Gravity has also built your strength so you can hold your head higher than ever."
Personal History with the Lingerie
The former model shared a particularly personal story about the pink lingerie set featured in her video. "I first bought this lingerie set seven years ago for someone who couldn’t have cared less about the lingerie, he just needed me to be twenty years younger," she revealed. This contrasted sharply with her current experience: "And now, even though I barely fit into it, it’s entirely worth to put it on just to see the look on my love’s face." Her "love" refers to writer Jeff Greenstein, with whom she has been in a relationship for three years following her previous involvement with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin.
Porizkova's marital history includes her long-term marriage to The Cars musician Ric Ocasek, which lasted from 1989 until their separation in 2018. Ocasek passed away the following year in 2019. Despite these relationship chapters and the physical changes she acknowledges, Porizkova expressed profound self-acceptance: "And so with all the obvious so-called-flaws of age, I have never felt sexier and more at home in my skin."
Recent Weight Gain and Health Journey
The model provided additional context about her weight gain in January 2025, explaining its connection to significant health developments. "I gained about 15lbs after my bilateral hip replacement in early 2024," she disclosed. Interestingly, this weight increase coincided with a period of genuine happiness in her life. "The funny thing is, I was so happy with my life; the end of chronic pain, building a life with my love, traveling with friends and working on new writing projects – that I had no idea I had gained all this weight until I went to Paris for my first modeling job of the year. Which was in September."
Porizkova, who will celebrate her 61st birthday in April, offered a thoughtful perspective on her changed physique. "I don’t exactly mind this new, fuller body. Compared to a year ago when I was 15lbs less but in constant pain, my new softness feels soothing." This reflection perfectly encapsulates her overall message: that self-acceptance and comfort in one's skin matter far more than conforming to arbitrary standards of appearance, especially as we navigate the natural process of aging.
