Quinton Aaron on Life Support After Blood Infection

The actor Quinton Aaron, renowned for his starring role in the Oscar-nominated film The Blind Side, has been placed on life support while battling a severe blood infection, according to multiple reports citing interviews with his wife, Margarita Aaron.

Medical Emergency and Hospitalisation

Margarita Aaron confirmed to outlets including Fox News and TMZ that her 41-year-old husband was intubated on Friday and put on life support after he lost sensation in his legs while ascending the stairs at their home and collapsed, leading her to call emergency services.

"After the 911 call, we went to the hospital and the doctors determined to put him on an endotracheal tube because his breathing was a little sporadic," Margarita Aaron reportedly told Fox. "They're continuing to run tests right now to find out what the root cause of the issue is."

Treatment and Prognosis

She added that Aaron is receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics to address potential issues with his blood, and his medical team has described his condition as "day by day". Despite the uncertainty, Margarita characterised him as a "very strong fighter" and expressed optimism about his recovery.

Fundraising and Recovery Updates

A GoFundMe campaign organised by the Veterans Aid Network to support Aaron's family had raised over $37,000 by Tuesday. The page states the hospitalization is "sudden, frightening, and overwhelming for his loved ones" due to the severe blood infection.

An update on Monday noted that Aaron "has opened his eyes and has some feeling in his foot!" but remains on life support undergoing tests. The page anticipates a lengthy recovery, including wheelchair use and therapy to regain walking ability upon release.

Career and Legacy

In the 2009 film The Blind Side, Aaron portrayed Michael Oher, a young man who later achieved success in the National Football League and won a Super Bowl. He starred alongside Sandra Bullock, who won an Oscar for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy. The film itself earned a best picture Oscar nomination.

This news comes amid ongoing public interest in Oher's legal disputes with the Tuohy family, which have recently been resolved with the termination of a conservatorship.
