Rick Springfield's Unfiltered Advice to Newly Divorced Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban
Music icon Rick Springfield has delivered characteristically blunt advice to fellow stars Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, just a fortnight after their high-profile divorce was legally finalised. The 76-year-old Jessie's Girl singer shared his thoughts during a spontaneous interview with TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday. This comes months after the world first learned of the couple's shock separation in September of last year.
The Finalised Split and Settlement Details
The divorce, which ended a 19-year marriage between the 58-year-old Moulin Rouge actress and the country music star of the same age, was finalised earlier this month. Kidman had originally cited irreconcilable differences. Court documents obtained by the Daily Mail reveal the pair have reached a comprehensive settlement agreement.
Key financial terms include:
- Both parties have waived all rights to child support and spousal support.
- Each star is responsible for their own legal fees and expenses.
- Property, including household items, vehicles, bank accounts, and investments, will be divided to mutual satisfaction.
- They will keep assets already in their possession.
Notably, the decree states that neither party wished to proceed with formal discovery processes to uncover assets and debts. It remains officially unknown if a prenuptial agreement was signed before their 2006 wedding.
Custody Arrangements and Life After the Split
The couple, who share two daughters, Sunday Rose (17) and Faith Margaret (15), have agreed on a custody schedule. Kidman will have the teenagers for 306 days of the year, while Urban will have them for 59 days. Despite reportedly having monthly incomes in excess of $100,000, they have agreed to a child support arrangement of zero dollars.
Sources indicate Kidman is now focusing on her children and career, feeling refreshed and optimistic. She spent the holidays in her native Australia and took a trip to South America before returning to Nashville with her daughters. An insider told People she is looking ahead to a busy professional year.
Conversely, reports suggest Urban has found the split challenging. An alleged source told New Idea the singer felt completely lost, especially after spending Christmas alone and missing his youngest daughter's recent birthday. The source described him as having lost his navigational device.
Springfield's Candid Moment and Romance Rumours
When approached at LAX and asked for advice for the newly single stars, Springfield's response was succinct: Get laid. When pressed on his feelings about the divorce news, he simply replied, I don't know. You got me there.
Since the separation, Urban was briefly linked to musician Maggie Baugh, though speculation was shut down. More recently, reports emerged linking him to 26-year-old rising country star Karley Scott Collins. However, Collins has publicly labelled these rumours absolutely RIDICULOUS and untrue. Sources add that Urban's daughters are currently refusing to meet any new partner, with their priority being their mother and their own well-being as they adjust to the changes. Urban is said to be trying to balance his own life with his daughters' needs.
The separation was reportedly a long-term development, with the pair hitting a rocky patch in the summer of 2025 before Kidman filed for divorce on September 30th last year.
