Stacey Solomon Shuts Down Marriage Speculation on This Morning
Television personality Stacey Solomon directly addressed swirling rumours about her marriage to actor Joe Swash during Wednesday's episode of ITV's This Morning. The speculation emerged after the 34-year-old former X Factor contestant was recently spotted without her wedding ring in public.
Ben Shephard Raises the Question
During her appearance on the popular daytime show, Solomon was chatting with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley about her upcoming stint as a guest judge on Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent. She is temporarily stepping in for head judge Simon Cowell, who is recovering from a fall.
After discussing her experience on the talent show panel, Shephard broached the sensitive topic of her missing wedding band. "There are these crazy rumours going on about the two of you at the moment... What's going on there, Stace?" he inquired directly.
Solomon responded with characteristic humour, asking: "What are they? Go on. There's a new rumour each week!" When Shephard specifically mentioned her not wearing the ring and suggested there "might be some issues going on," Solomon dismissed the concerns lightly.
A Lighthearted Explanation
"Do you know what, I am terrible. I don't read any of that stuff. In fact, does anyone anymore?" Solomon questioned before offering a practical explanation. "But yeah, we just... Have I not been wearing my ring? Probably took it off to go to the toilet, or something."
Shephard then referenced Swash's ongoing lake project, noting that "the plan for the lake is coming to fruition." Solomon jokingly suggested: "Maybe I dropped my ring in the lake... with our marriage!"
Relationship Timeline and Family Life
The couple first met in 2010 on the set of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! but didn't begin dating until 2016. They moved in together two years later, got engaged in 2020, and finally tied the knot in 2022.
Stacey and Joe are proud parents to three children together: six-year-old Rex, four-year-old Rose, and two-year-old Belle. Solomon also has two older sons from previous relationships: 17-year-old Zachary and 12-year-old Leighton. Joe Swash is also father to Harry from a previous relationship.
Britain's Got Talent Experience
During her This Morning appearance, Solomon expressed genuine enthusiasm about her upcoming role on Britain's Got Talent. "I loved it," she revealed. "Do you know what's really funny about having that full circle moment, I could connect with the people on the stage, because it's not easy to put yourself forward in those situations."
She humorously contrasted her usual presenting work with the talent show experience: "Two, I realise what it's like to present a show where you're not digging through people's houses, and you get to dress up, wear a nice dress and sit in a chair all day! I was like 'wow this is a great job!'"
Personal Connection to Talent Shows
Solomon reflected on her own career beginnings through talent competitions: "My whole career is thanks to the X Factor, and a show like Britain's Got Talent, where someone gave me the opportunity, gave me the chance to put myself out there. These shows are really close to my heart and to see other people coming up through those talent shows, even just enjoying the experience, whether it turns into something or not, it felt really special to be a part of."
Despite her success, Solomon confessed to still experiencing significant performance anxiety. "It's not that I don't [perform], I just find it scary, I find it really scary," she admitted. "Every time I go out there, I'd just be so, every performance, I'd be so nervous."
BGT Episode Details
In an exclusive preview of Saturday's episode, Solomon appears thoroughly entertained by a male dance group's performance. One dancer in particular catches her attention by continuously sticking out his tongue while dancing, prompting fellow judge Alesha Dixon to fan Solomon as she watches.
After telling the group "I thoroughly enjoyed it," Solomon directly addressed the tongue-protruding dancer named Antonio: "This is just personal preference. You kept poking your tongue out, I don't know if you are aware!?" She then demonstrated his habit back to him, adding: "Lots of this... A little bit too much."
The upcoming episode marks a return to screens after last Saturday's scheduled instalment was cancelled to accommodate live Six Nations rugby coverage featuring France versus England.
