Tom Hanks, 69, was in the audience as his son Chet Hanks performed at the Stagecoach music festival on Saturday. A fan recording Chet, 35, performing with his band Something Out West noticed Hanks standing nearby and shared the clip on TikTok with the caption 'Best day ever!!!' The video noted 'Watching Chet Hanks then realizing his dad is next to me,' accompanied by shocked and heart-eye emojis.
The Oscar-winning actor wore a grey fedora, light grey jacket, jeans, and sunglasses, swaying to the music as the band played their country-rock song 'You Better Run,' released in March 2025. Hanks also makes a cameo in the song's music video, appearing as his Forrest Gump character alongside Chet.
The single is from Something Out West's debut EP 'Leaving Hollywood,' released in June 2025. Chet sang with bandmate Drew Arthur, who played guitar. The 'Running Point' actor wore a dark grey Harley Davidson T-shirt with cutoff sleeves, exposing his heavily tattooed arms, and a black LA baseball cap.
Chet has followed his parents into music and acting. His mother, Rita Wilson, 69, has been recording and releasing music since 2012 and also attended the show on Saturday. She appeared in a group photo shared on Something Out West's Instagram on Sunday, posing alongside her granddaughter Michaiah, Chet's 10-year-old daughter with ex-girlfriend Tiffany Miles. Wilson commented on the post, 'Such a fantastic set!!!!!'
The mother-son duo were last seen together in March at the CAA pre-Oscars party in Los Angeles. Hanks and Wilson married in 1988 and share sons Chet and Truman, 30. Hanks also has children Colin, 48, and Elizabeth, 43, with ex-wife Samantha Lewes, to whom he was married from 1978 to 1987.
