A recent documentary titled Peltz Beckhams vs The Planners portrayed Nicola as a "nightmare bride" who subjected planners to what was described as the "group chat from hell." Celebrity wedding planner Mark Niemierko, featured in the documentary, suggested the wedding handed to the replacement planners was a "hot mess" with numerous alarm bells ringing from the outset.
The documentary revealed that Nicola was deeply involved in minute details, from monogrammed silk pajamas to a hair and makeup bill reportedly exceeding $100,000. Text messages showed her demanding planners be "cut off" and expressing frustration with various aspects of the planning process.

The lawsuit between the Peltz family and Plan Design unexpectedly settled in September 2022, with both parties releasing a joint statement. As part of the settlement, Plan Design agreed to make a donation to the CARE Ukraine Crisis Fund in Nicola and Brooklyn's names.
Industry experts suggested the settlement likely occurred because Nelson Peltz reconsidered proceeding with depositions of family members.
