Twenty years since Andy Sachs first entered Miranda Priestly's office, the cast of The Devil Wears Prada has reunited for a highly anticipated sequel. The Devil Wears Prada 2 promises high fashion and high drama, with Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles. The film takes viewers on a journey from the bustling streets of New York City to the luxurious shores of Lake Como, Italy. Ahead of its release on 1 May, we delve into the filming locations that fans must explore.
New York City, USA
New York remains a central character in the sequel. Andy Sachs, now features editor at Runway, navigates the city with more confidence, though the hierarchy remains intact—Miranda rides in a private car while Andy takes the subway. Filming took place on Midtown West 49th Street at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, the iconic McGraw-Hill Building used for exterior shots of the Elias-Clarke Group. A Runway fashion gala scene was shot at the American Museum of Natural History, where Streep recalled fans dressing as Miranda Priestly. Other locations include the House of Dior New York and a private Long Island waterfront estate formerly owned by Billy Joel. Hathaway noted, "The destiny of the film and the streets of New York are intertwined forever."
Milan, Italy
Unlike the original film's Paris Fashion Week, the sequel takes characters to Milan. The trailer shows Miranda standing alone at night in the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Italy's oldest shopping arcade. Designed by Giuseppe Mengoni and opened in 1877, the arcade houses luxury brands such as Prada, Gucci, Versace, Louis Vuitton, and Dior. Its ornate interior, featuring mosaics, caryatid figures, and gold-leaf lettering, makes it a must-visit destination.
Lake Como, Italy
Filming also occurred on Lake Como, where Andy and Emily are seen on a luxury speedboat heading toward Villa Balbiano. This 16th-century palazzo is the largest private residence on the lake, known for its period furniture, antiques, crystal chandeliers, and art collection. The villa and its manicured gardens are available for luxury rentals and weddings.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 premieres in cinemas on 1 May.
