Honor Swinton-Byrne, the 28-year-old daughter of Oscar-winning actress Tilda Swinton and the late playwright John Byrne, made a striking appearance at the Chanel Cruise 2026/27 show in Biarritz, France, on Tuesday. She accompanied her famous mother to the high-profile fashion event.
A Stunning Ensemble
Honor turned heads in a black tailored jacket adorned with white floral embellishments, paired with black straight-leg trousers and monochrome heels. Her mother, Tilda Swinton, showcased her signature androgynous style, presenting a trendy and sophisticated look.
Embracing the 'Nepo Baby' Label
In 2023, Honor openly addressed her status as a 'nepo baby', expressing gratitude for the opportunities her connections have provided. She told The Times: 'I feel like it’s very important to own it [nepotism]. I completely admit and am grateful for the fact that I was considered for The Souvenir because of my connections.' However, she emphasized that she continues to secure roles based on her own talent, stating: 'But at the same time I continue to act and get jobs because I have skill. I’m still doing it.'
Honor starred alongside her mother in the film The Souvenir, directed by Joanna Hogg, a family friend. She recounted how she was cast while working as a florist's assistant in Inverness, meeting Hogg at a Caffè Nero in Berwick-upon-Tweed. 'I didn’t have a clue that she was sussing me out for the part. From what I understand she had auditioned so many people and hadn’t quite seen what she wanted. She saw the self-consciousness of 18-year-old me and, yeah, I got it,' Honor explained.
A Star-Studded Event
The Chanel Cruise show attracted numerous celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, filmmaker Sofia Coppola, actress and creator Michaela Coel, and rapper A$AP Rocky. Fashion icons such as Charlotte Casiraghi, Anamaria Vartolomei, 9m88, and Ramata-Toulaye Sy were also in attendance.
Family Dynamics and Education
Tilda Swinton and John Byrne separated in 2005 after 14 years together but continued to live in an unconventional arrangement, with Tilda later entering a relationship with Sandro Kopp. Honor is one of twins; her brother Xavier works in the props department of the film industry. Honor recently completed a four-year psychology degree at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, despite challenges from attending a Rudolf Steiner school that did not offer traditional exams. She noted: 'I applied to four Scottish universities and was rejected from every single one apart from Heriot-Watt. They took a gamble and it paid off because I got a 2:1.'
Honor has also spoken about sharing her mother's wardrobe, revealing that 'nothing is off limits' and that she managed to 'will her feet to the same size' to share shoes. She described Tilda as naturally 'chic,' even in pyjamas.
