Lorna Luxe Moves to £2M Rental After Ghost House Flood

Influencer Lorna Luxe has provided her followers with another intimate look at her new £2 million rental property, following an unexpected departure from her last home. The 43-year-old social media star, who boasts 1.8 million followers, was forced to vacate her previous residence suddenly, leading to this latest move.

Forced Move from Ghost House

Lorna and her late husband John, a retired banker, had been living in the renowned £2.5 million Ghost House in Warwickshire. However, they were compelled to leave the property last year after it suffered significant flood damage. The couple had purchased Ghost House in 2023 and were eagerly planning renovations, including redesigning 'his and hers' bathrooms, but John passed away before they could return.

John's Battle with Cancer

John had been fighting stage four adrenal cancer for several years and died in February in Lorna's arms. Following the flood, the couple spent the last year in another rental, but Lorna recently had to leave that property unexpectedly as well. She cannot return to Ghost House until at least August, as repairs are ongoing and significantly behind schedule.

Tour of the New Rental Home

Lorna has been sharing a tour of her new £2 million rental, which is located just down the road from where she and John lived. The property features an incredible kitchen and glass hallways that offer stunning views of the surrounding trees. Designed by BPN Architects, the same team behind Ghost House, the new home holds a poignant connection to John.

Minimalist and 'Invisible' Design

Lorna expressed that John 'would love' the minimalist property, which is also designed to appear 'invisible.' The single-storey home is arranged as a cluster of seven individual pods scattered across the site, each joined by glazed corridors to create a sequence of connected rooms. The ceilings are illuminated by strips of lights, adding to the modern aesthetic.

In a heartfelt message to her followers, Lorna wrote: 'John would be so proud of me for sorting this house. It's been an absolute nightmare, but me and Kev Bear [their dog] are very happy here and it's nicer than the old rental we were in.' She added that the move was stressful, as she had to relocate with minimal belongings, but emphasized John's pride in her resilience.

Sweet Link to Late Husband

The architectural similarity to Ghost House serves as a sweet link to John. Ghost House itself is a 5,000 sq ft concrete structure reminiscent of a James Bond villain bunker, entered through a black reflecting pool. It features a main bedroom on the first floor with an en suite bathroom used only by Lorna, along with a cinema room.

John's Safety Rules and Personal Reflections

Lorna revealed that John gave her a list of safety rules after his death, including not wearing the 15-carat engagement ring he bought her, which she now stores securely. The couple met when Lorna was 25 during her career as a Virgin Atlantic flight attendant. John left banking to build a brand with her, initially accruing £300,000 in debt but firmly believing in her success.

In her first interview since John's passing, Lorna reflected on their life together and addressed their decision not to have children. They tried for children early in their marriage when she was 26, but when pregnancy did not occur, Lorna focused on her career. Recently, she has considered freezing her eggs, acknowledging the challenges of making big decisions alone.

John's Illness and Passing

John was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2023, experienced remission, but saw the cancer return and spread to his brain the following year. He was hospitalized with organ failure due to chemotherapy complications and developed sepsis before Christmas. Although he spent Christmas Day with Lorna, he passed away on February 11.

Emotional Return to Ghost House

Last month, Lorna struggled with emotions while preparing to revisit Ghost House for a progress meeting without John. She described the experience as 'bittersweet,' noting that the rebuild is months over its six-month timeframe, with completion now expected in August. She expressed missing the home and looking forward to returning, despite the emotional weight of the visit.
