Reality TV star and influencer Molly-Mae Hague has faced a wave of criticism after offering a first glimpse of her upcoming collaboration with sportswear giant Adidas. Fans have labelled the initial designs as 'boring and beige', expressing disappointment with the neutral colour palette.
Dream Collaboration Unveiled
Molly-Mae, who rose to fame on Love Island, announced the partnership in January 2026, describing it as a dream come true. She revealed she had been tasked by Adidas with creating a 'London girl shoe' for a limited footwear collection. In a social media post, she expressed her gratitude, stating the opportunity felt surreal and thanking her followers for their support.
The influencer later shared behind-the-scenes insights into the design process. Discussing her vision, she emphasised a preference for timeless, versatile shades. 'I'm definitely liking the idea of like a cream and a tan, brown-y kind of colour,' she explained. 'Because to me, the main part of the trainer being cream feels timeless. You can wear it all seasons.'
Fan Backlash Over Neutral Palette
However, the reveal of the cream and tan 'iced latte' and 'matcha' inspired concepts was met with a lukewarm response from a section of her audience. Comments on social media quickly pointed out the predictable colour scheme.
One unimpressed fan wrote, 'Omg, I could have told you in ten seconds it would be different variations of BEIGE.' Another posted a sarcastic remark: 'Beige for spring? Groundbreaking.' Practical concerns were also raised, with a third commenter noting, 'Cream can be worn all seasons? not where I live, they'd be covered in mud in winter.'
Supporters and Personal Revelations
Despite the criticism, other followers voiced their excitement for the collection. 'I'm sooo here for the matcha one,' one supporter commented, while another declared, 'I'm already obsessed!' Defending the choice, a fan simply stated, 'Yeah but beige works for a reason.'
The full collection is expected to be showcased in a new series on Prime Video. The show will also feature personal revelations from Molly-Mae, including details about her reconciliation with partner Tommy Fury after a brief split. She described the breakup period as 'the worst couple of months of my life', highlighting the emotional pain involved.
With the official launch scheduled for later in 2026, it remains to be seen whether the final products will win over the sceptics or confirm their initial 'beige' impressions.
