Dan Miller Shares The Apprentice Secrets and Business Rise

Dan Miller Unveils Behind-the-Scenes Insights from The Apprentice

Derby-born entrepreneur Dan Miller, aged 27, is sharing exclusive details from his time on The Apprentice series 20, where he competed under Lord Alan Sugar for a £250,000 investment. As the founder and CEO of Young Professionals (YPUK), a company aiding students in securing employment, Miller reveals how he launched his business from his bedroom at just 17 years old.

From Bedroom Beginnings to Business Success

Miller explains that he skipped university to pursue his entrepreneurial vision. "I knew I didn't want to go to uni," he says. "Every year, I'd attend careers fairs full of universities but no employers offering advice on getting into work. So, I had this idea – in my bedroom – to set up a business that worked with corporate employers to help students enter the workforce." His initiative quickly gained traction, with companies like Rolls-Royce and Experian providing early funding, leading to a turnover of over a million pounds by age 25.

Navigating The Apprentice with Asperger's

Diagnosed with Asperger's and severe dyslexia at age 12, Miller discusses how the BBC accommodated his needs during filming. "I was always given extra time to read briefing documents and had a reader provided," he notes. "With Asperger's, it takes me time to warm up to new people and surroundings, so it was a gradual process." He adds that his condition offers unique perspectives in business, describing it as "blue sky thinking."

Life on Set and Personal Reflections

Miller shares candid moments from the show, including the challenges of filming and interacting with fellow contestants. "It's weird watching yourself back – embarrassing, but also incredible," he admits. "Filming involved hours of work for just an hour of footage, and we'd often reshoot scenes multiple times." He also touches on his relationship with Lord Sugar, noting that many of Sugar's jokes went over his head initially, but he appreciated the learning opportunity.

Balancing Business and Personal Life

Leaving his business for months to film was a significant risk, but Miller's team kept it thriving. "My parents were concerned about how I'd leave my business for two to three months," he recalls. "It was a huge risk, but I learned that I can take a break and return to a successful operation." He plans to travel more with his husband, emphasizing the importance of adventure beyond work.

Future Aspirations and TV Prospects

While Miller enjoyed the TV experience, he remains focused on his business. "I absolutely loved the experience, but no, business comes first," he states. "However, never say never!" His story highlights resilience and innovation, inspiring aspiring entrepreneurs across the UK.
