Hollywood icon Demi Moore has made a heartfelt confession about her career struggles ahead of the release of her latest film. The 63-year-old Oscar nominee, who earned critical acclaim for her role in The Substance in 2024, stars in I Love Boosters, a film following a group of shoplifters targeting a ruthless fashionista named Christie Smith, played by Moore.
Fans eagerly anticipate seeing the Indecent Proposal star back on the big screen. Moore shares daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 34, and Tallulah, 32, with ex-husband Bruce Willis, 71. However, in a new interview, she admitted she almost abandoned acting because she doubted her own abilities.
Struggles with Insecurity
Speaking in V Magazine's V160 Summer 2026 Issue, Moore said: 'I didn't come from a background of training, and I didn't grow up in school doing plays. I didn't have a foundation to fall on, like a barometer.'
'I was flying by the seat of my pants, which can feel a little bit like, 'Did I get it? Did it work?' This is when I was really young, I was almost afraid to be in an acting class, because I thought that if they told me I wasn't any good, I'd be told that I couldn't do it well.'
Thankfully, Moore persevered despite feeling 'underestimated' by the industry at times. She now boasts one of Hollywood's most enviable careers.
New Role in 'I Love Boosters'
Moore stars in I Love Boosters, in cinemas this month. Discussing her role as the fearsome fashionista Smith, she explained: 'I don't even know if, after I read the script, I fully understood it. But I understood that to go on the journey with him, when I got to the other side, I would have more of me. That there would be something more expanded in me, just from every respect.'
'It's a smaller role for me, but it was the company that I would be with, the material, what it's saying, and is it pushing me out of my comfort zone? Is it gonna help stretch me professionally, and then also personally?'
Moore added: 'I also try to think of things in balance. You know, it's so easy in our industry to kind of be put in a box. Like, 'This is who you are.''
