Morrissey Spotted Enjoying Pint and Crisps After Announcing European Tour
Morrissey Enjoys Pint and Crisps After Tour Announcement

Music legend Morrissey was spotted enjoying a pint of beer and a packet of crisps with a friend in a rare public outing, just days after announcing his new European tour. The 66-year-old former Smiths frontman, known for his private lifestyle, was photographed in a casual ensemble consisting of a black leather jacket, denim jeans, and a cap, as he engaged in animated conversation with his companion.

A Toast to Good Spirits

The pair appeared to be in high spirits, raising their glasses for a toast before sipping their drinks. This low-key appearance comes shortly after Morrissey unveiled plans for a European tour in support of his latest album, Make-Up Is A Lie. The tour is set to commence in Norway this June, with subsequent stops in Sweden, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, and the Netherlands. Following a break on August 1 in Portugal, the tour will resume in the Netherlands in December, culminating with a New Year's Eve performance in Brussels.

Challenges and Cancellations

The tour announcement follows a tumultuous start to the year, which saw Morrissey forced to cancel several concerts. In February, he abruptly pulled out of a scheduled show in Valencia, citing sleep deprivation caused by noise from the city's Las Fallas festival, which left him in a 'catatonic state'. Earlier in the year, he also cancelled other performances due to unspecified health concerns.

In September 2024, Morrissey cancelled two shows in the United States after a 'credible threat' on his life. A statement on his Facebook page read: 'In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey's life. Due to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled.'

Authorities arrested 26-year-old Noah Castellano, a Canadian national, who allegedly posted a death threat against the singer on the social media platform Bluesky. The post, made on September 4, referenced Morrissey's scheduled performance at Ottawa's CityFolk Festival, stating: 'Steven Patrick Morrissey, when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week... I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.'

A Storied Career

Morrissey rose to fame in the 1980s as the frontman of The Smiths, producing hits such as 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side', 'Everyday Is Like Sunday', and 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'. He has since enjoyed a successful solo career and was honoured with an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British music.

In recent years, Morrissey has drawn attention for his controversial political statements, aligning with right-wing views and criticising England's immigration policies. He previously expressed support for the far-right political party 'For Britain', which disbanded in 2022. In interviews, he has made contentious remarks about acid attacks and racism, including statements such as 'London is second only to Bangladesh for acid attacks' and 'Racism is at its most abhorrent in relation to eating animals'.
