Oasis Reunion 'Moved the Needle' for Guitar Music, Says The K's Frontman
Oasis Reunion 'Moved the Needle' for Guitar Music

In an exclusive interview, Jamie Boyle, frontman of indie band The K's, has declared that the Oasis reunion last summer "definitely moved the needle" for guitar music, bringing renewed attention to the genre. Speaking ahead of the Brit Awards 2026 in Manchester, where Noel Gallagher is set to receive the Songwriter of the Year honour, Boyle emphasised the positive impact of the Gallagher brothers' comeback.

Revitalising Guitar Music

Boyle stated that the Oasis reunion has been instrumental in shifting focus back to guitar-driven sounds. "It definitely moved the needle a bit. Like, I don't care what anybody says, it definitely moved the needle back onto guitar music this year," he said. He noted that guitar music had been "so much more under the radar" previously, but the reunion has put bands back into the limelight, alongside other artists championing the genre.

Noel Gallagher's Brits Honour

Boyle insisted that Noel Gallagher fully deserves the prestigious Songwriter of the Year trophy at this year's Brit Awards. He praised the event's move to Manchester, calling it "so cool" and highlighting the buzz it has generated in the area and the music industry. The K's, hailing from Earlestown between Manchester and Liverpool, have felt the positive effects of this local excitement.

The K's Charity Success and Festival Plans

The band recently performed a Brits Week 2026 show for War Child, raising over £30,000 at an intimate gig at Gorilla. Boyle described the occasion as an "honour" and expressed gratitude for the support. Looking ahead, The K's are set for a bumper year with a packed festival schedule, including performances at Mouth of The Tyne near Newcastle, Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, and The Piece Hall in Halifax.

Authentic Performances and Future Aspirations

Boyle promised that the band will maintain their authentic offering, focusing on delivering energetic shows for fans. "We get on stage and we just focus fully on just having a good time and putting a show on for the fans," he said. Despite not having received a Brit nomination yet, Boyle remains optimistic, calling it a "pinch me moment" that will come in time. He cited inspiration from artists like Sam Fender and Holly Humberstone, who have risen to global stardom after Brits recognition.

The K's, consisting of Jamie Boyle (vocals, guitar), Ryan Breslin (guitar, backing vocals), Dexter Baker (bass guitar), and Nathan Peers (drums), achieved a number one album last year, a milestone they discovered just before performing at Kendall Calling. With their 2026 schedule shaping up to be their biggest yet, Boyle and his bandmates are poised to capitalise on the renewed interest in guitar music sparked by Oasis's comeback.
