Building a Career from Kent to the World Stage

Based in Kent, Sam Battle began his music career in 2014 as the frontman of the indie rock band Zibra, which notably performed at Glastonbury in 2015 as part of BBC Introducing. Transitioning to his solo project, Look Mum No Computer, he has since released multiple singles, albums, and EPs, and recently completed a nationwide tour across Germany, a country renowned for its underground electronic music scene.

His YouTube channel, launched in 2016, has garnered over 85 million views and accumulated more than 1.4 million combined subscribers and followers across various social media platforms. This online presence has been bolstered by his reputation for constructing and playing unconventional electronic instruments, including organs made from toys like Furbies and Game Boys, synthesizer bicycles, flame-throwing keyboards, and a Star Wars droid orchestra.

BBC's Confidence in a Creative Vision

Kalpna Patel-Knight, the head of entertainment at the BBC, praised the selection, highlighting Look Mum No Computer's unique attributes. "We are absolutely thrilled to have Look Mum No Computer representing the UK at Eurovision in Vienna in 2026," she stated. "His bold vision, unique sound and electric performance style make him a truly unforgettable artist."

She added, "Look Mum No Computer embodies everything the UK wants to celebrate on the Eurovision stage – creativity, ambition, and a distinctly British wit. I am sure he will make us all proud on the international stage in May."

Anticipation Builds for the Song and Performance

While the specific song that Look Mum No Computer will perform at the competition in Austria has not yet been announced, he has promised to bring his full creative energy to the event. "I've been working a long time creating, writing, and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process," he explained. "I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can't wait for everyone to hear and see what we've created. I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesised!"

This selection marks a significant moment for the UK's Eurovision participation, as it embraces an artist known for innovation and a strong online following, potentially bringing a fresh and dynamic approach to the contest.
