Vernon Kay Reveals Surprising Career Move with New BBC Gameshow
Vernon Kay has opened up about his latest presenting venture, a brand new BBC gameshow titled Do You Know Your Place?, which is set to launch on Monday, 23 February. The 51-year-old host is teaming up with The Traitors star Paul Gorton for this innovative quiz series that delves into the quirky and bizarre facts about the United Kingdom.
Inside the New BBC Series
The show features Paul Gorton leading an unreliable tour of a different UK destination each day, with three celebrity contestants competing to separate unbelievable truths from fiction. Locations range from Belfast to Wrexham, and the celebrity lineup includes notable figures such as EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra, Reverend Kate Bottley, Gladiator 'Apollo' Alex Gray, Anneka Rice, Susan Calman, Owain Wyn Evans, and Max Fosh.
Alongside Paul's tours, Vernon Kay will engage the celebrities in a series of in-studio games, each inspired by the day's featured location. Points are accumulated across five episodes, with the daily winner receiving a souvenir sent by Paul from his travels. The overall champion at the week's end will be awarded an exclusive I Know My Place sweatshirt.
Vernon Kay's Insights on the Show
In an exclusive interview ahead of the premiere, Vernon shared his excitement, stating, I think people will be really surprised at the amount of bizarre facts and strange, quirky history elements that are so close to home. He compared the show's appeal to Horrible Histories, noting its ability to reveal extreme and unbelievable truths about local towns across the UK.
Reflecting on his extensive presenting career, which includes roles on T4, All Star Family Fortunes, Formula E, Game of Talents, and his popular BBC Radio 2 show, Vernon also discussed his preferences between live and pre-recorded hosting. He expressed a love for the adrenaline rush of live presenting but appreciated the flexibility of studio recordings, where he can refine his delivery.
Vernon highlighted live sports presenting as the best experience of his career, describing it as crazy due to the need for quick thinking and in-depth knowledge of statistics, though he humorously noted that studied subjects often met unexpected fates, such as crashes in motorsport.

Do You Know Your Place? will air on BBC Two, weekdays at 6:30 PM, starting from Monday, 23 February. This new series adds another credit to Vernon Kay's impressive portfolio, promising to entertain audiences with its unique blend of history, trivia, and celebrity competition.
