Jack Stooks, a former senior gardener to King Charles, has shared his insights on the potential for a meeting between the monarch and Prince Harry during the Duke of Sussex's upcoming visit to the United Kingdom. Speaking on GB News, Stooks suggested that the King may prefer an open, public setting if a reunion takes place.
Stooks weighs in on royal reconciliation
Appearing on Thursday's instalment of GB News, Stooks was asked about the likelihood of a 'reconciliation' between King Charles and Prince Harry. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, are set to return to the UK in July, bringing their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to Birmingham for the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games. This will mark the first time in four years that Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five, have visited the UK.
Stooks expressed uncertainty about the family dynamics, referencing the fallout from Harry's memoir 'Spare' and the couple's interview with Oprah Winfrey. 'I do not know how that is going to go with the family,' he told presenters Ellie Costello and Stephen Dixon. 'We do obviously know that there has been this big family fall out, from the book, from Oprah Winfrey, from him talking to the press about what he's speaking to his family about so that's actually made the family step back somewhat.'
Hope for the children's sake
Despite the tensions, Stooks expressed hope that a meeting could occur for the sake of the children. 'I do hope for the children's sake that there may be some kind of meeting,' he said. He noted that the Royal Family sometimes meets people unexpectedly, citing the example of Ascot, where interactions are often captured on video by the public. 'They might have some kind of meeting where it's that kind of an open environment where there's many other people, so it doesn't matter what people say, it will all be recorded by other people anyway from what they hear. Perhaps it'll be more of an open meeting but I do hope for the children's sake that there will be a meeting of some kind.'
Stooks' comments come amid reports that Prince William is 'furious' over Meghan Markle's UK return, and GB News previously interrupted programming for a breaking news alert about Harry's return date.
