Alan Carr's Streaming Empire Expands with New Amazon Prime Series
Stand-up comedian and television personality Alan Carr is reportedly set to star in a forthcoming Amazon Prime Video series, according to industry sources. This development marks what would be his third major commission from leading streaming platforms, following recent announcements involving Disney+ and Netflix.
From Traitors Champion to Streaming Star
The comic's career has experienced a significant surge since his victory as the first-ever famous winner on BBC One's Celebrity Traitors last year. His charismatic performance on the reality competition appears to have caught the attention of multiple streaming giants, who are now actively pursuing projects with the entertainer.
Last week brought confirmation that Carr will host a new Disney+ docuseries titled Castle Man, where he documents his attempt to purchase and renovate a castle to celebrate his 50th birthday. "Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me - I want my very own castle," Carr explained when announcing the project. "All I want is a turret to call my own - get me over that drawbridge!"
The Triple Streaming Threat
Industry publication The Sun reports that Carr has additional projects in development with both Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Sources indicate he's rumoured to be collaborating with his BBC co-star Amanda Holden on a Netflix production described as a "departure" from their previous renovation programmes, though still focusing on subject matter "close to their hearts."
The Amazon Prime Video format reportedly involves Carr touring with fellow comedians, completing what insiders describe as "the line-up of jobs with the big three streamers." This strategic move across Disney+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video represents a significant expansion of Carr's television portfolio beyond traditional broadcast channels.
BBC Relations and Strictly Come Dancing Decision
Industry observers note that the BBC might feel somewhat disappointed by Carr's streaming-focused career direction following his Celebrity Traitors success. "The first being he had a huge boost on one of their shows but he hasn't announced anything new with them yet," a source commented. "Also they'd be forgiven for feeling a tad irked by the fact that he already has the Greek Job, Italian Job and Spanish Job renovation shows on the Beeb with his pal Amanda."
This streaming expansion comes shortly after Carr and Holden revealed they declined an opportunity to present the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. Appearing on Jessie and Lennie Ware's Table Manners podcast, Carr confirmed they "said no" to the Strictly presenting role "ages ago." Holden had previously clarified on her radio programme: "I want to say now that me and Alan are 100 per cent not doing Strictly. We are so flattered to be in that mix. We both are not doing it."
The Mirror has contacted Alan Carr's representatives for comment regarding these new streaming developments and his expanding television commitments across multiple platforms.
