Alex Jones Returns to The One Show After New Zealand Holiday & 10th Anniversary
Alex Jones back on The One Show after New Zealand trip

Popular BBC presenter Alex Jones made a warm return to The One Show on Monday evening, 19 January 2026, following an extended festive break.

A Festive Hiatus and Family Celebrations

Jones had taken additional time off after the programme's Christmas break to visit New Zealand, the home country of her husband, Charlie Thomson. While the show resumed in early January, Alex remained abroad, combining the holiday with a major personal milestone.

During her travels, she kept her Instagram followers updated with highlights from the trip, including family visits to Piha Beach and the Kitekite Falls. The getaway also served as a dual celebration for the New Year and her 10th wedding anniversary with Thomson.

A Heartfelt On-Air Return

Her co-host Roman Kemp enthusiastically announced her return at the top of the 19 January episode, stating: "Hello and welcome to the start of your Monday evening live on The One Show. My name is Roman Kemp and look who is back from New Zealand! It's Alex Jones!"

The studio crew responded with applause and cheers, prompting Kemp to remark, "I told you they would be happy to see you." Alex, a mother of three, then expressed her joy at being back, though she admitted to some jet lag. "It's so nice to be back," she said. "Honestly, I don't know what day it is or whether I should be eating breakfast or supper. But I'm here and I'm glad to be here. It's lovely."

Marking a Decade of Marriage

Reflecting on her anniversary while away, Alex had shared a touching social media post. She posted a throwback wedding photo alongside a recent picture of her and Charlie at a restaurant, writing: "Today, we celebrate 10 years as husband and wife. Then and now."

She explained the significance of celebrating in the Southern Hemisphere, noting: "We married in the Northern hemisphere so it was only right to mark a decade, with our children in the Southern hemisphere. It's all about compromise." The presenter also extended gratitude to family and friends for making their wedding day special.

The One Show continues to air on BBC One on weekdays at 7pm.
