Celebrity Traitors' Secret 'No Reality Stars' Rule Exposed by Charlotte Crosby
In a surprising revelation, a well-known television personality has disclosed a secret rule that bars dozens of stars from participating in the next series of Celebrity Traitors, including themselves. The BBC's star-studded spin-off, which first aired late last year with 19 famous faces entering the iconic castle, has already confirmed a second installment, sparking widespread speculation about potential contestants.
Charlotte Crosby's Candid Admission
During a recent interview, Geordie Shore star Charlotte Crosby, 35, claimed that she and other reality TV personalities are prohibited from signing up for the show, despite their keen interest in taking part. She told The Sun: 'I would love to do that, but you do know they’ve got a no reality rule. That is a genuine fact.' Crosby elaborated, stating that her agent could confirm this policy, which she believes is common among many television programmes. 'They take no reality stars. A lot of shows have this rule,' she added.
Crosby drew a parallel to other shows, noting: 'I’m A Celebrity used to have this rule. But it gets to the point where they’ve obviously run out of big names so they have to start delving into reality.' She expressed hope that the rule might eventually be relaxed, saying: 'So they’ll have this rule for maybe three or four series and then they might have to break the mould a bit. As soon as they do, I will be there with my f*****g cloak.'
Recap of Series One and Alan Carr's Victory
The first series of Celebrity Traitors featured a diverse array of contestants, including Sir Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Kate Garraway, Joe Marler, Clare Balding, Celia Imrie, and Tom Daley. Under the watchful eye of host Claudia Winkleman, comedian and presenter Alan Carr, 49, emerged victorious as a Traitor, outwitting 18 other famous faces in the game of deception.
In a humorous anecdote shared on Scott Mill's BBC Radio 2 show, Alan Carr recounted how he accidentally revealed his win shortly after filming. He explained that upon returning from the Scottish highlands, he headed straight to film a new Channel 4 show, Secret Genius, where a cameraman congratulated him. Carr laughed: 'The cameraman goes: "Congratulations" and I go: "How did you know I won?" He said "I didn't".' Realising his mistake, Carr attempted to backtrack, telling the camera operator he was 'joking and teasing' to avoid spoiling the outcome.
Potential Stars for the Next Series
Despite the reported rule, rumours are swirling about who might appear in the upcoming series. Last month, it was revealed that This Morning presenter Alison Hammond, 50, is reportedly in talks with BBC bosses to join the show. A source told The Sun: 'The Beeb thinks she could be comedy gold, just like Alan Carr. Alison is naturally very funny and they think she could end up being hugely successful.' The source added that the pool of talent eager to participate is extensive, requiring careful consideration by producers.
Another name reportedly in the mix is comedian and Inside No.9 star Steve Pemberton, 58. The British actor, known for his role in The League of Gentlemen, is said to be a huge fan of the hit BBC spin-off and has been in discussions with producers since publicly expressing his admiration for the show when it launched in 2022. Additionally, singer Cheryl and actor Danny Dyer are among other potential contestants being considered for the castle.
Celebrity Traitors series one remains available to stream on BBC iPlayer, allowing fans to revisit the thrilling gameplay and star-studded lineup as anticipation builds for the next installment.
