EastEnders has dropped hints about Jasmine Fisher's traumatic past following the arrival of her twin brother Josh Goodwin on the Square. Josh, played by Joshua Vaughn, arrived in Walford with his adoptive mother Sandra, played by Dawn Steele, after they saw news coverage of Jasmine's arrest for the murder of Anthony Trueman.
During a conversation with Denise and Kim Fox, Sandra revealed that she and her husband Keith had initially fostered both twins. However, after an unspecified incident involving Jasmine and Keith, Sandra gave Jasmine up and only adopted Josh. This has led viewers to speculate that Jasmine may have been a victim of child sexual abuse, with one fan noting that Jasmine's behaviour—including stalking Zoe, setting fire to the Vic, and pushing Cindy Beale down the stairs—could be 'rooted in trauma'.
Another fan pointed out that such a storyline would mirror the past of Jasmine's grandmother Kat Slater, who was raped by her uncle at age 13 and gave birth to Zoe. The revelation could also help reintegrate Jasmine with the Trueman and Slater families.
Jasmine, played by Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness, is currently in custody awaiting trial after confessing to killing Anthony in self-defence. Her mother Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, was initially arrested for the murder but later released. Zoe had abandoned both twins at the hospital 19 years ago, believing her daughter had died.
