Gladiators' Giant Reveals Show Secret Ahead of Series 3 Return
Gladiators star shares 'inside secret' before new series

The towering stars of the hit BBC show Gladiators have given fans an exclusive peek behind the shield ahead of the programme's highly anticipated return. Giants Giant and Diamond appeared on BBC Breakfast on Friday, January 16, to discuss the third series of the revived competition, which kicks off this weekend.

The 'Inside Secret' Revealed

During their chat with hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt, Giant, whose real name is Jamie Christian-Johal, let slip a key production change. "We had a little, I'm letting you into an inside secret this time," he revealed. "So the previous series we've been kept away from the contenders while they're training. This time we've been allowed a little look while they're training."

Naga Munchetty jokingly protested that this wasn't fair, to which Giant explained it was a chance for the Gladiators to start their mental preparation. "We're sizing them up a little bit," he admitted. Diamond, real name Livi Sheldon, was quick to point out the balance, noting that "they've been able to watch us the last time," making the new arrangement feel more even.

Stronger Contenders and a Ramped-Up Season

Both athletes were impressed by the new batch of competitors hoping to topple them in the arena. "There's a few big guys, strong-looking girls," observed Giant. "And then you think, right, he's my target." Diamond agreed, stating "I think every year they get stronger."

Despite the fierce on-screen rivalry, Diamond emphasised the supportive atmosphere backstage. "It's all really friendly afterwards... we support and we encourage the contenders as well because at the end of the day it's a huge thing for them to come up against us."

Giant promised that the upcoming series would be the most intense yet. "I would say this season is ramped up on every single level," he declared. "So there's more interaction with contenders. We as a team of athletes and friends are just looking out for each other on all the games. There's new games to look forward to."

Overwhelming Fan Love and Return Details

The duo also reflected on the incredible public response to the show's comeback. "It really is amazing," said Diamond. "We walk down in supermarkets... and we get stopped and asked for photos." She added that the recognition from all ages "just really shows the love for Gladiators, for how well it's been received."

The new series, once again hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, premieres on Saturday, January 17. Viewers can catch it on BBC One and iPlayer from 5.45pm. With new games, tougher contenders, and unprecedented behind-the-scenes access for the Gladiators, the stage is set for another explosive season.
