House of Guinness Renewed for Season 2 by Netflix

Netflix has renewed the period drama House of Guinness for a second season, with production expected to begin early next year, as reported by Variety. The series, created by Peaky Blinders' Stephen Knight, is set in 1860s Ireland and follows the heirs of the Guinness brewery after the death of founder Sir Benjamin Guinness.

The first season focused on the sibling rivalry among his four adult children—Arthur, Edward, Anne and Benjamin—amid political unrest threatening their father's legacy. The season finale ended on a major cliffhanger, setting the stage for more drama and scandal in the upcoming instalment.

The show boasts an impressive cast including James Norton, Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge and Jack Gleeson. It currently holds a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 50 reviews, with critics calling it "intoxicating" and "wildly entertaining". The Times described it as "rip-roaring", while Pajiba noted it is "smutty, political, wildly entertaining, and sharper than a razor blade".

However, some critics pointed out historical inaccuracies. The Irish Times remarked that "to Knight, all the Irish seem much the same", and Empire said the first two episodes were "an insipid historical slog", though the series eventually became "more smooth and robust".
