Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has announced he will be taking a three-week break from the ITV breakfast show. The 69-year-old made the announcement during Thursday's (July 17) edition, just before handing over to Lorraine Kelly.
Co-host Kate Garraway confirmed it was a holiday, joking that Madeley had not been suspended. Madeley quipped that he had not had the whip taken away but had 'had it applied a few times'.
Madeley's break comes a week after co-host Susanna Reid announced her summer hiatus. It is not yet confirmed who will replace Madeley, but likely candidates include Ed Balls, Martin Lewis, Adil Ray, or Rob Rinder.
Madeley returned to daytime TV in 2021 after Piers Morgan left GMB. He previously co-hosted This Morning with his wife Judy Finnigan between 1988 and 2001.
