TV Tonight: 81 Players Battle in Rob Brydon's The Floor on ITV1
Rob Brydon's New Gameshow The Floor Airs Tonight

Tonight's television schedule offers a mix of high-stakes game shows, returning spy thrillers, and shocking true crime documentaries. The standout new offering is a major gameshow launch on ITV1, where a massive cast of contestants will compete for a life-changing cash prize.

New Gameshow The Floor Promises Tense Duels

Rob Brydon takes on hosting duties for ITV1's brand new gameshow, The Floor, which airs at 8pm. The programme joins the trend for shows featuring large numbers of contestants, similar to formats like The 1% Club and Squid Game.

Across the series, a total of 81 players will each stand on a single tile that represents a specific subject area on a giant grid. The action revolves around quick-fire duels between two contestants. The loser must exit the competition entirely, while the victor claims their opponent's square, expanding their territory on the floor.

The ultimate champion, who manages to dominate the entire floor by the end of the series, will walk away with a substantial £50,000 prize.

Returning Dramas and Shocking Scams

Following its explosive first episode, series two of The Night Manager continues on BBC One at 9pm. Tom Hiddleston returns as the chameleonic Jonathan Pine, who now heads to Medellín to infiltrate the world of a wealthy psychopath. The key question is whether he has met his match in the seductive arms dealer Teddy, played by Diego Calva.

Meanwhile, BBC Two delves into a bizarre true crime story at 9pm with The Million Pound Shaman Scam. This two-part documentary investigates Juliette D'Souza, who posed as a faith healer in the upmarket London district of Hampstead to con the local community out of an estimated £1 million. The film features journalist Tim Rayment, who first uncovered the dark web of spiritual manipulation and South American shamanism back in 2008.

More Prime-Time Entertainment Choices

Viewers have several other notable options this evening. On ITV1 at 9pm, the thriller Red Eye continues, with DS Hana Li (Jing Lusi) still trying to identify who is targeting a locked-down US consulate.

Channel 4 offers a double dose of intense reality TV. At 9pm, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins begins a new series, with recruits including Dani Dyer facing brutal training in North Africa. Later, at 10pm, First Dates Beach Club returns to Spain for more sun-soaked matchmaking hosted by Fred Sirieix.

For film fans, BBC Two at 10pm screens the Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black, starring Marisa Abela, which focuses on the singer's tumultuous relationships and personal struggles.

Sports coverage is also plentiful today, featuring Premier League football clashes including Fulham vs Liverpool on Sky Sports and Manchester City vs Chelsea later in the day, as well as Premiership Rugby with Leicester Tigers vs Saracens on TNT Sports.
