The eight-part limited series, which debuted on New Year's Day, 1 January 2026, quickly soared to the top of the streaming charts, leaving viewers desperate to unravel its mysteries.
The Final Confrontation and Cult Exposé
The penultimate episode saw a wounded Simon Greene (James Nesbitt) rushed to hospital after confronting the hired killers, Ash and Dee Dee. He alerted Detective Inspector Fagbenle (Alfred Enoch) to the sinister Shining Haven cult, fearing they held his daughter, Paige. A police raid followed, leading to the arrest of the terminally ill cult leader, Casper Vartage, who was attempting suicide to avoid justice.
In a crucial hospital visit, Fagbenle revealed to Simon that the murder victim, Aaron, was one of many children fathered by Casper and put up for adoption. Casper, wanting to pass his cult and wealth only to his two "divine" sons, hired Dee Dee and Ash as hitmen to eliminate his other offspring once they began communicating. This conspiracy also claimed the life of Henry Thorpe, the missing man being investigated by Elena Ravenscroft.
Paige's Return and a Mother's Secret
Months later, a recovered Simon finally reunited with his daughter, Paige (Ellie de Lange). She disclosed she had been in rehab, unaware of the chaos, and had found Aaron's body in their flat. Fearing blame, she fled. Under questioning, she admitted her mother, Ingrid (Minnie Driver), had taken her to rehab before, having battled addiction herself.
