Stephen Graham hints at 'Adolescence' sequel after Globes win

Netflix's hit drama 'Adolescence' is being tipped for a second series after its stunning success at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, where it won four major prizes. Star Stephen Graham has now hinted that a follow-up could be on the cards in the coming years.

Golden Globes Triumph Sparks Sequel Speculation

Speaking behind the scenes after Sunday night's ceremony, Stephen Graham, who also co-created the series with Jack Thorne, teased the show's future. When pressed by journalists about the possibility of another series, the actor remained coy but optimistic.

"I cannot answer that question because it's somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned," Graham revealed in the Winners' Room. The limited series was a major winner, taking home the award for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture.

Historic Night for Young Star Owen Cooper

The night was particularly historic for 16-year-old Owen Cooper, who plays Jamie Miller, a teenager suspected of murder. Cooper won the Best Supporting Male Actor trophy, making him the youngest ever winner in the supporting TV categories at the Golden Globes.

This victory also places him as the second youngest male Golden Globe winner in history, just behind Ricky Schroder, who was nine when he won in 1990. In an emotional acceptance speech, Cooper said, "Standing here at the Golden Globe does not feel real, whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through."

He shared his unconventional path into acting, recalling, "I took a risk, and I went to drama classes. I was the only boy there. It was embarrassing, but I got through it. I'm still very much an apprentice."

Awards Clean Sweep for 'Adolescence' Cast

The show's success was comprehensive. Alongside the series win and Cooper's award, Stephen Graham won Best Male Actor in a Limited Series for his role as Eddie Miller, the father of Cooper's character. Co-star Erin Doherty, who plays Briony Ariston, secured the Best Supporting Female Actor honour.

The drama, which follows the fallout after a teenager is suspected of murder, was one of the big winners of the night alongside the black comedy-thriller film 'One Battle After Another'. The ceremony also saw a double win for 'The Studio', with Seth Rogen named Best Male Actor in a Comedy or Musical and the show winning Best Musical or Comedy Series.

With fans now eagerly awaiting news of a potential second series, all eyes will be on Graham, Thorne, and Netflix to see if the acclaimed drama will return to explore its compelling story further.
