Production on the highly anticipated second season of the hit comedy series The Studio is set to begin in just one week, star and co-creator Seth Rogen has confirmed.
Golden Globe Winner Returns for More Satire
The news comes fresh off the show's major victory at the Golden Globes, where it secured the award for Best Musical or Comedy TV Series. Rogen revealed to Variety that the experience of the awards season has directly inspired new material for the upcoming episodes.
"We start shooting in a week," Rogen stated. "We've literally written some things that happened leading up to this award show into episodes... you'll probably know what they are when you see them."
A-List Cast and Cameos Galore
The first season, which premiered in March last year, became an instant favourite for its sharp wit and insider look at the film industry. It boasts an impressive 92% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes and features an all-star ensemble including Ike Barinholtz, Kathryn Hahn, and Chase Sui Wonders.
Rogen plays Matt Remick, a movie fanatic who unexpectedly finds himself leading a major Hollywood studio. The show is co-created by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Peter Huyck.
Season one was notable for its array of celebrity cameos, with figures like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Anthony Mackie, and Charlize Theron appearing as themselves. According to Rogen, season two is poised to feature even more special appearances, with interest spiking after the Globes.
"A lot of people literally just come up to us and were like, 'Put me on your show. I'll do anything. I'll walk by!'" he said, noting that even real studio executives like Sony's Tom Rothman have expressed interest.
