Yellowstone Star Jefferson White Joins Cast of Rambo Prequel John Rambo

Yellowstone actor Jefferson White has officially been cast in the forthcoming Rambo prequel, John Rambo. The news confirms the popular Western series star will join an ensemble cast in the highly anticipated origin story of the legendary action hero.

Noah Centineo Takes on Iconic Role in Prequel Production

With Noah Centineo assuming the role of the young John Rambo originally made famous by Sylvester Stallone, the new film from director Jalmari Helander will be set several years prior to the 1982 classic First Blood. Helander, known for his work on Sisu, has described the project as a personal passion.

"When I was 11, I saw First Blood for the first time, and it changed my life," Helander revealed. "Rambo wasn't just a film to me - it stayed with me growing up and was a defining influence on why I wanted to become a filmmaker."

Ensemble Cast and Production Details

White, best known for portraying Jimmy Hurdstrom in the hit Paramount+ series Yellowstone, joins a diverse ensemble that includes Yao from Sinners, Jason Tobin from A Thousand Blows, Quincy Isaiah from Winning Time: The Rise Of The Lakers Dynasty, and Tayme Thapthimthong from The White Lotus.

Specific details regarding White's character and those of his fellow cast members remain tightly under wraps. Production is currently underway across multiple locations in Thailand, including Bangkok, Krabi, Phang Nga, and Kanchanaburi.

Director's Vision for Rambo's Origin Story

The prequel is being positioned as a raw exploration of Rambo's formative years, with particular focus on his wartime service in Vietnam. Helander has emphasised his commitment to honouring the character's legacy while presenting a fresh perspective.

"This is Rambo stripped down, raw, and real - a survival story about endurance, persistence, and lost innocence," Helander explained. "It's an honor to shape this next chapter with deep respect for the character and the legacy, and to bring audiences the start of John Rambo's journey."

Studio Support and Leading Man's Background

Erin Westerman, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating: "We're thrilled to start production on John Rambo, which will allow both new audiences and existing fans to explore John Rambo's roots, his principles, and most importantly, some incredible action, courtesy of Jalmari's singular vision."

Centineo, who rose to prominence playing Peter Kavinsky in Netflix's beloved To All the Boys I've Loved Before trilogy, brings significant star power to the production. His recent credits include the 2022 superhero blockbuster Black Adam alongside Dwayne Johnson, and he's set to portray Ken Masters in the forthcoming Street Fighter adaptation later this year.

Release Details and Streaming Availability

While John Rambo does not yet have an official release date, anticipation continues to build for this exploration of the iconic character's origins. Meanwhile, fans can stream Jefferson White's performances in Yellowstone, which remains available on Paramount+.

The project represents a significant expansion of the Rambo franchise, promising to deliver both character depth and the intense action sequences that have defined the series since its inception.
