Emmerdale: Kev Refuses to Trade Diamond for Son Lewis in Gutting Twist
Kev Refuses to Trade Diamond for Son Lewis in Emmerdale

Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) has made a shocking return to Emmerdale, and his priorities have left viewers devastated. The unhinged criminal, known for his chaotic past and surprisingly good baking skills, is back in the village after Ross Barton (Michael Parr) learned that his brother Lewis (Bradley Riches) was in danger.

Lewis had been planning a holiday to Madeira with Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) but initially backed out due to anxiety. After encouragement from Ross, he changed his mind and set off to join Vinny. However, disaster struck when Lewis was thrown into the back of a van and taken hostage by a woman named Kylie. Held captive in her house, Lewis is panicking and refusing to eat.

Ross Receives a Demanding Text

Ross only discovered Lewis's plight through a threatening text message: 'If you want to see Lewis again, his dad needs to return Penny. Don’t call the police, or Lewis gets it.' Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) became involved after delivering a package from Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) to Ross's house. Initially, Ross believed the kidnappers wanted Lewis's adoptive father, Jeffrey, but Liam realised they were looking for the wrong dad. He confessed that Kev is Lewis's biological father, prompting Ross to insist they find him.

Locating Kev Through Lemon Drizzle Cake

Tracking down Kev proved surprisingly easy. Liam deduced that a lemon drizzle cake brought to the café by Claudette Anderson (Flo Wilson) had been baked by Kev, meaning Claudette knew his whereabouts. Liam found Kev working in his bakery van, now called 'A Slice of Kev-en', parked in a layby. Kev initially dismissed Liam, but changed his mind upon learning Lewis was in trouble.

Back in the village, Kev confidently declared he was ready to save the day. However, when Ross mentioned the demand for 'Penny', Kev revealed that Penny is not a woman but a diamond. He claimed he had taken the diamond and given it to a pawnbroker. Ross insisted Kev must retrieve the jewel to secure Lewis's release, but outside, Kev unzipped his jacket to reveal the diamond hanging on a chain around his neck.

A Gutting Twist for Fans

Kev's refusal to hand over the diamond has left viewers heartbroken. The twist confirms that Kev cares more about a materialistic item than his own son. With Kev showing no signs of relinquishing the jewel, the question remains: how will Lewis escape from his captors?

Emmerdale continues weeknights on ITV at 7:30pm.
