West Lothian Schools Take on World Cup Walking Challenge
West Lothian Schools World Cup Walking Challenge

Six schools in West Lothian have united for a unique World Cup Walking Challenge, encouraging pupils to walk the equivalent distance from Blackburn Cross to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. The goal is to complete the journey before the Scotland national team arrives for their World Cup match against Brazil on June 24.

Participating Schools

The challenge involves Blackburn Primary School, Hopefield Nursery, Murrayfield Primary & Nursery, Our Lady of Lourdes Primary, Connolly School Campus, and Pinewood School. Together, their students, families, and staff are recording miles walked to accumulate a total of 4,223 miles.

Community Effort

Siannon Ramsay, acting principal teacher at Blackburn Primary, highlighted the initiative's benefits: “Children, families and staff have been out walking and recording their miles. This is a fun way for us to work together as a community, get children and families out and about, promoting the health benefits of walking and build on the momentum and excitement of Scotland being in the World Cup.”
