A doctor has revealed a simple cooling technique to help people sleep better during hot weather. Dr Jonny Betteridge, an aesthetic doctor and founder of JB Aesthetics, shared the method on TikTok, where he has over 160,000 followers.
The Method
Dr Betteridge explained that in his previous NHS roles in Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, and Anaesthetics, rapid cooling for patients with high temperatures involved placing ice packs on major blood vessels. He recommends placing two small ice packs wrapped in thin cloth under the armpits, as this area is most effective for cooling the body.
“I like to side sleep, so I put it under my armpit, lie on my side. That, combined with a fan, was enough to relax me and send me off to sleep,” he said.
Viewer Reactions
The video gained thousands of likes, with comments praising the tip. One user said, “Great tip and thank you. Didn't know this,” while another added, “I love this! Definitely trying.”
