The Princess of Wales returned “buzzing” from her trip to Italy promoting early years development, according to her husband, the Prince of Wales. William discussed Kate’s first official foreign tour in over three years during an appearance on Heart radio’s breakfast show.
William said his wife is “edging herself back” into overseas visits following her successful cancer treatment, but cautioned that royal trips take their toll, so they must “make sure she’s OK and rested”. He paid a personal tribute, calling Kate “an amazing mum and an amazing wife” and saying “our family couldn’t cope without her”.
Kate received a rapturous welcome in Reggio Emilia, where she learned about an innovative approach to teaching young children. William noted she spends “God knows how much time now looking through all the paperwork” and is “a proper pro on early years”. He added: “I’m so pleased it went well for her, and yeah I think she came back buzzing.”
An aide described the trip as a “huge moment” for Kate, who has experienced a cancer diagnosis and treatment since her last major foreign tour. William and Kate’s last lengthy tour together was the Caribbean trip in March 2022, followed by a short visit to Boston in December 2022.
William also joked about receiving an invitation to Taylor Swift’s wedding, saying “no comment” and laughing, but added: “I’m hoping and I’m sure there might be an invitation around, but we’ll see.”
