Beverley Callard Gets Green Light for Radiotherapy in Breast Cancer Fight
Beverley Callard Can Begin Radiotherapy Soon

Beverley Callard has announced that she has received new test results confirming she can begin radiotherapy in the near future as she continues her battle against breast cancer. The 69-year-old Coronation Street legend, who recently relocated to Dublin after securing a role on the Irish soap opera Fair City, shared the uplifting news with her followers via an Instagram video on Thursday.

Positive Test Results

In the video, Callard explained: 'I've got absolutely great news. One of the lymph nodes that they'd sent over for testing to see how aggressive the cancer would be and it's on low numbers which is really good. That means I can begin the radiotherapy very soon, which I'm pleased about. So the next step is coming ahead. Thank you for all your messages, I'm sending loads of love. I am popping champagne! Wahey!'

She accompanied the video with a caption reading: 'Well… the results are in and we are popping the champagne! I can't begin to explain the relief… now on to the next steps. What a journey it's been so far… sending love and thanks to everyone.'

Support from Loved Ones

Callard's husband, Jon, also appeared in the video, exclaiming: 'What a f***ing journey!' as the couple celebrated with a drink. The actress received an outpouring of support from fans and celebrity friends alike. Denise Welch wrote: 'So proud of you Beverley,' while Seann Walsh added: 'Oh my God, I’m so happy Bev,' and GK Barry penned: 'So happy for you Bev'.

Health Journey and I'm a Celebrity Exit

This positive development follows a challenging period for Callard. She was forced to withdraw from the live I'm A Celebrity... South Africa final on medical advice after experiencing a 'funny turn' during filming in Kruger National Park. Four months later, she received her breast cancer diagnosis. Reflecting on her exit, Callard said in a previous Instagram video: 'I just watched my exit on I'm A Celeb and it made me cry all over again. Of course, I didn't know then that I had cancer but I just knew that it was the last couple of days there that I hadn't felt very well.' She recounted losing consciousness in the Bush Telegraph and being taken to a medical hut, where she was advised not to return to camp. Despite her desire to stay, she was sent home, marking the beginning of her cancer battle.

Callard's campmates were visibly upset by her departure. Adam broke down in tears, and Scarlett Moffatt noted: 'The camp won't be the same without her.' However, Callard described her time on the show as 'the experience of a lifetime', praising her fellow contestants and the adventure. She had previously participated in the 20th series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2020, finishing in fourth place.

Now, with the green light for radiotherapy, Callard remains determined and positive, vowing to 'beat this' as she continues her treatment journey.
