Three Cousins Born Same Day in Hospital: 'Extraordinary' Coincidence

Family Celebrates 'Truly Extraordinary' Baby Coincidence on Emotional Day

A family from Bridgeyate in South Gloucestershire has described an "incredibly emotional" day after welcoming three cousins in the same hospital on the same day, a coincidence they dubbed "truly extraordinary" and "surreal."

Identical Twins and a Son Born Hours Apart

On February 6, at the Royal United Hospitals (RUH) Bath NHS Foundation Trust in Somerset, identical twin girls Frankie and Connie were born to mother Georgie. Just hours later, her brother Billy welcomed his son Maddox, making it a remarkable family event.

Maddox arrived precisely on his due date, while Georgie's twins were born slightly earlier than expected. The family expressed deep gratitude to the hospital staff for their support during this "incredibly emotional" occasion.

Family Joked About Rare Coincidence Before It Happened

Georgie revealed that the family had previously joked about the possibility of such a rare event occurring. She said, "It still feels surreal that we all became parents on the very same day. We joked about it happening and then it actually did!"

She added, "It was a very emotional day for us all, one our family will never forget. It was so special seeing the cousins all together and being able to pop down the hall and see one another on the ward."

The family praised the RUH staff, stating, "The staff at the RUH have been amazing. They kept us calm, reassured and supported throughout, and we can't thank them enough for the care we all received. We can't wait for all the joint birthday parties in the years to come."

Hospital Spokesperson Highlights Statistical Rarity

A hospital spokesperson emphasized the statistical improbability of this event, noting that identical twins occur in only about 1 in 250 births, and merely 4-5% of babies are born on their exact due date. This combination makes the coincidence particularly "extraordinary."

Maddox's mother, Kiera, humorously remarked on the family dynamics, saying, "He's got an older sister and girl cousins. As you can see, he's loving life." She added that the girl cousins are "definitely going to rule the roost."

Billy shared his amusement with the BBC, stating, "We couldn't believe it. I feel sorry for their nan and grandad having to spend all the money on birthdays at once."

Context of Unusual Birth Stories

This heartwarming story follows other rare birth occurrences, such as the case of twins conceived on the same day but born five years apart. In that instance, Siobhan and Vincent Rigby from Ipswich in Suffolk welcomed their daughter Charlotte after five rounds of IVF, with their son Noah born later from a frozen embryo, creating siblings who "look completely different" despite being technical twins.

The family's experience at RUH Bath highlights not only a unique statistical anomaly but also the joy and unity that such events can bring, creating lasting memories and anticipation for future celebrations.
