Woman Conceived After Mounjaro Weight Loss Following Years of Infertility
A woman who feared she might never have children has given birth after using the weight-loss medication Mounjaro to shed six stone, which she believes enabled her to conceive following years of infertility. Chloe Rose, 25, from Stanwell in Surrey, fell pregnant just three weeks after discontinuing the jab in December 2024, after struggling to start a family since 2019.
Years of Fertility Struggles and Weight Challenges
Chloe and her husband began trying for a baby in 2019, but after years of unsuccessful attempts, they sought medical help. In January 2024, she was placed on an NHS fertility treatment trial, but this had to be halted early due to her weight. Chloe, who had battled weight issues since her teenage years and wore a size 20, realised she needed to lose weight to fulfil her dream of starting a family.
She had underlying health conditions, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), arthritis, and was on steroid medication, which made weight loss difficult. "I'd tried every diet, every exercise, I was going to the gym while I was on the trial but nothing was working," Chloe explained.
Turning to Mounjaro for Weight Loss
In July 2024, desperate to shift the weight, Chloe ordered Mounjaro, often referred to as a "skinny jab," from an online pharmacy for £135. Over the next five months, she lost an impressive six stone, slimming down to a size 10. "I felt great, I found that it made me feel really free. I was losing weight, I was feeling more comfortable with my body," she said.
Chloe stopped using Mounjaro in December 2024 and was stunned to discover she was pregnant on January 20, 2025. "I really wasn't expecting it because prior to this I hadn't had a period for six years because my PCOS was so bad. I fell pregnant without having a period so I just wasn't expecting it at all," she admitted.
Birth of Baby Jeanie and Cautious Recommendations
Her daughter, Jeanie, was born on September 18, 2025, weighing 5lbs 1oz. Chloe was ecstatic but initially terrified, as guidelines recommend not being on Mounjaro for two months before conception. "I was terrified that I'd done something by mistake," she said.
Chloe credits Mounjaro with kickstarting her weight loss journey, which she believes was key to her pregnancy. "Mounjaro helped to give me the baby I'd always hoped for. I think that the weight loss is massively what did it but Mounjaro definitely kickstarted that journey for me," she stated.
However, she cautions that it may not be suitable for everyone. "If people are struggling with their weight and they would like to get pregnant I would say try Mounjaro but it depends on why people are struggling to get pregnant. It's such an open-ended conversation, there are many aspects of people struggling to get pregnant. Going on it won't always help you fall pregnant [...] but it definitely helped me," Chloe advised.
Manufacturer's Guidance on Mounjaro Use
A spokesperson for Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro (tirzepatide), emphasised that it should only be used under professional supervision. "A Mounjaro (tirzepatide) should only be used when prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional, and prescriptions should be fulfilled and supplied by registered pharmacies or providers," they said, encouraging patients to consult doctors for guidance and to ensure they receive genuine medication.
This case highlights the complex interplay between weight, health conditions like PCOS, and fertility, while underscoring the importance of medical oversight in using treatments like Mounjaro.
