Moana Mansion Chaos: Influencer House Sparks Council Outrage in Adelaide
Moana 'Party House' Chaos Sparks Fresh Council Outrage

A luxurious beachfront property south of Adelaide, infamous for years of disruptive behaviour, has ignited fresh community fury by transforming into a dedicated influencer party house for the summer.

Years of Disruption and a New Chapter

Simon McMahon, who served as acting mayor of the City of Onkaparinga in 2022, has publicly condemned the property known as Luxe Haus. He took to Facebook to voice the frustrations of local residents, stating they have endured 'ongoing chaos at the Moana party house, strippers, car fires, and parties running into the early hours every weekend' for years.

Now, the multimillion-dollar mansion is launching as the 'TikTok Party Games House,' hosting six up-and-coming TikTok creators. The initiative, which began on November 1, offers a rent-free luxury stay for up to nine weeks, complete with a private chef, a pool, and panoramic ocean views.

The first guest revealed was 23-year-old Adelaide star Frida Khalife. The creators will collaborate on content, enjoy nightly game sessions, and have all accommodation, food, and drinks provided. The official website describes it as a 'world-first opportunity.'

A Controversial History and Political Paralysis

The property's past is marred by controversy. In 2019, a bucks night attended by South Australian AFL players led to police complaints and public anger, though no charges were filed. The home has also been linked to a convicted sex offender and multiple alleged arson attacks.

Simon McMahon expressed that residents are 'fed up' and feel they have nowhere to turn for a resolution. 'When I was an elected member, I would raise this and be told that council had no power to do anything about it,' he wrote. 'When residents wrote to state government, they were told to contact the council.'

This has created a cycle where residents feel voiceless. The mansion operates as a short-term rental and, while currently listed as 'not taking reservations' on Booking.com, private bookings are still possible.

Council Response and Legal Standstill

Onkaparinga Council confirmed that the last formal complaint about the property was lodged in February 2021. A council spokesperson stated that complaints about noise or nuisance should be directed to the local police, SAPOL.

The council emphasised that there is no legal basis under current planning laws to stop parties at residential addresses. They pointed to state legislation, such as the Local Nuisance and Litter Control (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill, as the potential key to enabling change.

For now, the only recourse for frustrated neighbours is to call SAPOL for noise complaints or report illegal parking to the council, leaving the community in a continued state of unrest as the influencer house settles in for a summer of content creation.
