Catherine Hicks Spotted in LA, Reflects on 7th Heaven Reboot and Career
Catherine Hicks Spotted in LA, Discusses 7th Heaven Reboot

Catherine Hicks Makes Rare Public Appearance in Los Angeles

The actress, best known for her roles in the wholesome family drama 7th Heaven and the horror classic Child's Play, was spotted running errands with her husband in Los Angeles. Catherine Hicks, now 74, looked vibrant and stylish during the outing, marking a rare public sighting since she retired from acting.

A Career Spanning Iconic Roles

Hicks enjoyed a diverse and acclaimed acting career before stepping away from Hollywood. She received an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the 1980 television film Marilyn, showcasing her dramatic range early on. Her filmography includes notable roles in Peggy Sue Got Married, She's Out of Control, and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.

However, she is perhaps most beloved for playing Annie Camden, the matriarch in 7th Heaven, which aired from 1996 to 2007. The series focused on a pastor's family, with Hicks starring opposite Stephen Collins, who played her on-screen husband. In a stark contrast, she also terrified audiences as Karen Barclay in Child's Play, where her character gifts her son a doll possessed by a serial killer.

The 7th Heaven Reboot Controversy

Discussions about reviving 7th Heaven have surfaced over the years, but Hicks has been vocal about her conditions. In a 2016 interview with TMZ, she stated that a reboot could only happen if Collins' character was killed off, suggesting they would have to "open with Stephen's coffin." This stance stems from Collins' career downfall in 2014, when he admitted to inappropriate conduct with underage girls, leading to his disgrace.

More recently, in 2023, Hicks firmly rejected the idea of a revival, telling TMZ, "No, no! The kids grew up and Stephen's gone and no, no. Let it go." Despite reports from Variety last year that a reboot was in development with Jessica Biel as an executive producer, Hicks remains opposed, citing the changed dynamics and Collins' absence.

Life After Hollywood

Hicks has since quit acting to focus on her family, particularly her daughter. She explained her decision to TMZ, saying, "I don't act anymore. I don't have the tears in me. They're gone. I'm being a homemaker when I wasn't because I was playing a homemaker. I wasn't there for my real daughter and now I'm home for my real daughter 'cause she never got me then when she was little. It's really fulfilling."

During her Los Angeles outing, Hicks was seen wearing a vibrant red top with her hair beautifully styled, looking incredible for a casual day. She was accompanied by her husband, Kevin Yagher, as they visited a bank, showcasing her contentment in retirement.
