In a spectacular display of generosity and entertainment, Comic Relief's annual Red Nose Day appeal has successfully raised more than £30 million through its star-studded live broadcast. The charity fundraiser, which aired from Salford's MediaCity, brought together a host of comedic and acting talent to support communities by providing essential food, healthcare, and shelter to those in need.
Davina McCall Announces Impressive Fundraising Total
Television presenter Davina McCall revealed the final Red Nose Day total at the conclusion of the show on BBC One, declaring: "The total raised tonight is a whopping £30,004,040. Thank you so, so much and thank you for your incredible generosity." Earlier in the evening, the first total stood at £11,520,926, showcasing the rapid accumulation of donations throughout the broadcast.
Celebrity Appearances and Comedy Sketches Galore
The live event featured an array of beloved characters and celebrity guests. Catherine Tate reprised her iconic Nan role, while sketches drew inspiration from popular BBC programmes including The Traitors and Amandaland. McCall fronted the show alongside fellow comedians Tate, Joel Dommett, Katherine Ryan, and Nick Mohammed.
A pre-recorded video message from Comic Relief co-founder Sir Lenny Henry opened the programme, thanking the public for their fundraising efforts over the past 41 years and praising their dedication as the "definition of a truly United Kingdom."
Hollywood Stars and Television Favourites Join the Fun
Actors Julia Roberts, Sir Ian McKellen, and Bryan Cranston made special appearances in response to a letter from Tate's Nan character. A spoof of The Traitors featured celebrities such as Alison Steadman, Vicky Pattison, and Iain Stirling as contestants.
Another sketch saw Amandaland star Lucy Punch joined by television's most famous Amandas, including presenter Amanda Holden, former Coronation Street actress Amanda Barrie, and Traitors series four star Amanda Collier.

The evening also included musical appearances from singers Calum Scott and Blessing Offor, alongside social media stars Ayame, Sarel, Victor Kunda, and Specs Gonzalez—who had just two weeks to learn a song for their performance.

A series of appeal films, fronted by Welsh actor Michael Sheen, reminded viewers of Red Nose Day's purpose and how donations support people both in the UK and internationally. Comic Relief, co-founded by Sir Lenny Henry and screenwriter Richard Curtis in 1985, aims to "help put food on plates, roofs over heads and keep little ones safe."
Funds raised will go towards organisations tackling homelessness, poverty, mental health, and other critical causes worldwide, continuing the charity's legacy of impactful support.
