Connor Ball has disclosed that his romantic relationship with The Traitors star Mollie Pearce ignited instantly when they first encountered each other at the Dancing On Ice studios. The musician from The Vamps and the reality television personality struck up their connection last year while Mollie was competing on the former ITV show.
Instant Spark and Secret Plans
Connor, who had previously appeared on series fourteen of Dancing On Ice in 2022, visited the studios early during Mollie's season to support friends who were also participating. At an after-party, the pair began conversing about their shared experiences on the television programme, and an immediate romantic spark was evident.
"We met when Mol was on the series," Connor explained. "I went down quite early on because I had friends who were still on the show at that point. We met at the after-party, and then I came back on the last show. I told Mol I wanted to go to the last show, but it was probably to see her. We've been inseparable since then."
Unbeknownst to Mollie, Connor was eager to see her again and devised a secret plan to attend the final episode. Fate further intervened when Mollie secured a job in Birmingham, Connor's hometown, shortly after the show concluded, serendipitously arranging their first date.
Blossoming Relationship and Shared Adventures
Since that initial meeting, their relationship has flourished, with the couple travelling abroad together and posting affectionate photographs on their social media accounts. Mollie, who finished as runner-up on The Traitors behind Harry Clark, never anticipated achieving such levels of fame prior to the show.
"It's massive," she remarked about the programme. "No not at all, I've always said the first season was great, I loved watching it. It did well, but it wasn't life-changing for people; it was kind of like they did the show, they did the game, and that was it. Never did I think I would leave my job and do something different and have the platform I do; it's been a bit mad."
Charity Challenge and Personal Causes
Currently, the couple is confronting a significant hurdle by participating in a demanding five-day charity challenge. From March 30 to April 3, they are walking five marathons across five days to raise awareness and funds for Crohn's & Colitis UK.
Connor instantly agreed to support Mollie's long-standing desire to advocate for the cause. Mollie lives with Ulcerative Colitis, diagnosed when she was eleven years old, and utilises a stoma named Sid to manage her condition daily.
"The last couple of years, people have been speaking about it more," she noted. "But I feel there's a lack of awareness and there's still a taboo around the subject of bowels and using the toilet, hopefully it's getting more people to talk about it. It affects so many people, people just don't talk about it, so people don't realise how many people it affects."
Training for the marathons has been time-consuming, but the couple finds comfort in listening to podcasts and music, such as Sienna Spiro's Die On This Hill, to maintain their energy and motivation.
Overcoming Trolls and Embracing Life
Both Connor and Mollie acknowledge the prevalence of trolling on social media but choose to laugh off negative comments, using them as further inspiration to promote visibility and acceptance for individuals with stomas.
Reflecting on his career with The Vamps, Connor shared insights about personal growth. "I think I used to care too much what other people thought of me," he admitted. "I think in some ways that probably made me a lot more introverted and a bit more shy and probably took things too seriously. To just live as much in the present as possible, there's definitely been a lot of tours that I've gone through and not being in the moment and staying in the hotel room. I think now you have to realise that you do only have one life and this is a mad opportunity. So you just have to live it as much as you can."
Similarly, Mollie credited The Traitors with helping her find her voice and advocate for herself more effectively. "The show just helped me do that, I feel like I found my voice a little bit, and I've kind of learned how to stick up for myself. The same as Con, just to enjoy everything – so much happens and it's crazy all the time, but you kind of forget to enjoy it because you always feel like you're thinking about the next thing. It's important to take a step back and think, 'Wow, I've come a long way from where I started,' and be proud of yourself."
As they continue their charity challenge, the couple remains focused on raising funds and awareness, demonstrating that their bond extends beyond romance into shared values and commitments.
