Dec Donnelly Brands Ant McPartlin 'Icky' Over Rare Marriage Insight
Ant McPartlin's longtime television partner and friend, Dec Donnelly, has humorously branded him "icky" after Ant shared a rare and personal insight into his marriage to Anne-Marie. The candid moment occurred during a recent episode of their joint podcast, Hanging Out, where Ant, who is typically very private about his marital life, opened up in an unexpected way.
Podcast Admission Sparks Cringing Response
During the podcast, the duo discussed Harry Styles' new album, Kiss All The Time Disco Occasionally, which prompted Ant to reveal that he and his wife, whom he married in 2021, "do kiss a lot." He elaborated, saying, "I do like kissing. It's one of the things to do." Ant quickly clarified, "My wife. The same person. I'm not just going around kissing loads of people."
Dec Donnelly appeared visibly appalled by the admission, breaking the tension with a joke: "I thought you were gonna stick one on us there." Despite this, Ant continued, asserting that kissing "gets better as you get older," but noticed Dec's uncomfortable expression and asked for an explanation.
Dec's Blunt Request to Keep It Private
Dec responded with a damning request, stating, "I find this a bit icky. Just keep it for the bedroom." Unfazed, Ant ploughed on, encouraging people to kiss more and praising it as "great." He even prompted Dec to recall his first kiss, emphasizing that it improves with time.
Dec implored him to stop, saying, "Keep it for the kitchen or wherever you do it, but don't broadcast it to everybody!" This exchange highlights the dynamic of their nearly 40-year friendship, blending humor with genuine discomfort over personal revelations.
Background on Ant's Marriage and Personal Life
Ant McPartlin met Anne-Marie when she began working as his personal assistant. He was previously married to make-up artist Lisa Armstrong for 11 years, with their divorce finalized in 2018. Recently, Ant and Lisa faced a heartbreaking loss as they had to put their beloved chocolate Labrador, Hurley, to sleep after the dog fell ill.
Hurley was considered the last remaining tie between Ant and Lisa post-divorce, having been part of a custody battle. The Geordie presenter, now 50, admitted that the dog helped him through tough times. He reportedly rushed out of a Britain's Got Talent press conference to be with Hurley upon learning the pet was too ill to recover.
This event marked the first time Ant and Lisa had seen each other since 2018, as they came together in a veterinary practice in west London to say goodbye to their dog, setting aside personal feelings for the moment.
