Ice Spice and Anna Delvey Make Bold Statements at Alexander Wang's Art Event

On Thursday evening, the vibrant art scene of New York City witnessed a remarkable convergence of celebrity and notoriety as rapper Ice Spice and convicted fraudster Anna Delvey attended Alexander Wang's exclusive art event. The gathering, held in the heart of Manhattan, became an instant talking point due to the contrasting yet equally attention-grabbing appearances of these two prominent figures.

Ice Spice's Daring Fashion Ensemble

The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, commanded attention with a daringly plunging black mini dress that showcased her ample cleavage. Her quirky outfit featured a faux fur trimmed skirt, which she paired with a matching cropped jacket and pointed heels to elevate her frame. Adding to her striking look, Ice Spice sported a long glossy pink wig, a colour she carried into her accessories and a large diamond necklace that sparkled under the event lights.

Anna Delvey's Chic Yet Monitored Appearance

Meanwhile, Anna Delvey, the 35-year-old who infamously posed as a German heiress and conned New York's elite out of a small fortune, opted for a chic black look that subtly revealed her ankle monitor. She looked effortlessly stylish in a blazer and lace skirt while draping herself in an oversized white faux fur coat. Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorokin, spent years posing as a wealthy heiress while defrauding banks, hotels, and individuals out of $275,000.

She was arrested in 2017 and found guilty of grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services. Her story inspired the wildly popular Netflix series Inventing Anna, which starred Anna Chlumsky, Julia Garner, and Arian Moayed.

Past Comparisons to Anna Delvey's Persona

The event also brought to mind recent comparisons to Delvey's persona. Last year, singer Chappell Roan looked unrecognisable with a new look as she modelled a wig, drawing immediate comparisons to the fraudster. One image showed the 28-year-old Pink Pony Club singer in an elevator with sunglasses on and a disheveled wig anchored on her head. She was wrapped in a houndstooth-patterned shawl and held a coffee in her hand.

In her Instagram caption, she wrote, 'Will the girl who I just met at the perfume store please comment the perfume you recommended I wrote it down and just deleted it on accident. The world “girl” was in the brand name & you said it smelled like lipstick. Thank you.' Followers quickly noted the resemblance, with one asking, 'Anna Delvey?' while others echoed the thought, including one who simply said, 'Ok anna delvey.'

Someone else wrote, 'Girl I thought this was Sophie Turner,' while another compared, 'The first image kind of looks like Lady Gaga.' Another agreed, stating, 'the way I thot you were gaga.' Chappell, real name Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, is typically recognised for her head of long, flowing, red curls. It appears she was in disguise while out shopping earlier in the day, but gave up her persona in hopes of finding the perfume someone recommended.

Chappell Roan's Persistent Search for Perfume

She doubled down on her call to action in her Instagram Stories as she reposted the pictures and reiterated, 'To the girl who I met at the perfume store, please comment.' In a second Stories post, she said, 'Girls, I redownloaded ig to find this perfume. That's how bad I want it.' Chappell's previous Instagram post was a recap about her night at the Met Gala last week. A reel showed behind-the-scenes footage of the Missouri native getting ready for the huge annual event, where she wore a cranberry-colored suit by Paul Tazewell.

She wrote in a caption to her 7.1 million followers, 'such an honor to wear a custom suit created by @paultazewell upcycling vintage pieces from @ebay. wow i am so so grateful for this opportunity thank you !! Also thank you to @voguemagazine for bringing me as a guest to fashion’s biggest night xoxoxoxo shop my curated collection on ebay.com/ChappellRoan.'

The Alexander Wang art event thus served as a fascinating backdrop for these interconnected stories of fashion, fame, and infamy, highlighting how celebrity culture continues to intersect with broader social narratives in today's media landscape.
