Olivia Dean was overcome with emotion as she secured her inaugural Brit Awards during the 2026 ceremony, held live from Manchester on Saturday night. The singer, known for her hit "Man I Need," clinched two prestigious awards, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.
Olivia Dean's Triumphant Night
Olivia Dean, aged 26, achieved a remarkable double victory at the Brit Awards 2026. Her first win came in the Song of the Year category, which she shared with fellow artist Sam Fender. This was swiftly followed by a second award, adding to her accolades despite being nominated for a total of five categories. Following the announcement of her second triumph, Olivia took to the stage alone to deliver a heartfelt winner's speech.
In her address, she expressed gratitude, stating, "Thank you!" and adding, "Wow," before acknowledging her team, fans, and loved ones. She emphasised, "It's not lost on me I'm lucky to have good people around me." This success builds on her recent Grammy award for Best New Artist, further solidifying her status in the music industry.
Ceremony Highlights and Performances
The 2026 Brit Awards were hosted at the new Co-op Live venue in Manchester, a first for the event. The lineup of performers included Olivia Dean, Wolf Alice, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI, with additional acts such as Alex Warren, Mark Ronson, ROSALÍA, SOMBR, and RAYE confirmed. Mark Ronson was honoured with an award for his outstanding contribution to music, while Noel Gallagher received a songwriting award.
Emotional Tributes to Music Legends
The ceremony featured poignant tributes to recently departed music icons. Ozzy Osbourne, the Black Sabbath frontman who passed away seven months prior at age 76, was honoured with a performance of 'No More Tears,' the title track from his 1991 multi-million selling album. Curated by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, the tribute included musicians from Ozzy's band over the years, such as Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos, and Zakk Wylde, with Robbie Williams fronting the super group.
Additionally, Stone Roses bassist Mani, who died suddenly in November at age 63, was remembered in a segment led by Charlatans legend Tim Burgess. A source revealed, "Tim is set to present the In Memoriam section, but before he does so, he is primed to talk about Mani who was both a dear friend and mentor. The fact that Mani was from Manchester too - and the awards is being held there for the first time - means it will be a really special moment."
Nomination Standouts
Ahead of the ceremony, Olivia Dean and Lola Young led with five nominations each, while Sam Fender followed closely with four nominations, bolstered by his Mercury Prize success. The event showcased a blend of emerging talent and veteran artists, highlighting the dynamic landscape of the British music scene.
