An Australian rapper, who is currently a fugitive from justice following an alleged gangland execution, has brazenly shared a new music video from his overseas hideout, flaunting firearms and openly taunting law enforcement authorities. Harley Johan, performing under the stage name YC EWZY, uploaded the track titled '4am' on Friday, with the opening seconds directly acknowledging accusations that he murdered Comanchero associate Niddal Acherkouk in November 2024.
Police Warrant and Provocative Video Content
New South Wales Police issued an arrest warrant for Johan, aged 31, in September of last year. The music video, which is understood to have been filmed in Bali, Indonesia, opens with a clip from a Nine News broadcast discussing the case. In that news segment, presenter Peter Overton is seen urging Johan to return to Australia and "face the music".
In the lyrics of the song, Johan raps lines that appear to reference violent acts, including "I did two drills last week back to back I'm f***ing balling", where "drills" is a slang term for hits or shootings. He continues with "Drop a body... triple zero they gon' call", and includes taunting verses such as "Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who's the greatest? Watch them fall" and "Damn. Now your parents crying about you dying. Now they have to buy a casket and the suit you lie in. Guess they never got that silver lining".
Visuals and Alleged Criminal Activities
The video also features Johan repeatedly displaying guns, acting out a carjacking scenario, and swapping number plates on vehicles. This provocative content emerges amidst serious allegations linking him to a fatal shooting.
Background of the Alleged Murder
Niddal Acherkouk, who was associated with the Comanchero gang, was fatally shot at a service station on Cleveland Street in Surry Hills on November 22, 2024. He had recently returned to Australia under the belief that underworld enemies were no longer pursuing him.
On the evening of the incident, Acherkouk had parked his car at a BP service station across the road from where he was meeting friends for dinner. Upon returning to his vehicle, two gunmen opened fire and fled the scene in a stolen Porsche SUV, which was later discovered burnt out in Kensington. Acherkouk attempted to run from the gunfire but collapsed and died in the middle of Cleveland Street. CCTV footage of the fatal attack was leaked within 24 hours.
Police Investigation and Fugitive's Movements
Detective Acting Superintendent Matthew Russell stated last September that Johan had fled Australia approximately six weeks after the shooting. "We know that he left Sydney in January of this year for Kuala Lumpur and we're working hard to establish his whereabouts," he said. It is understood that Johan had previously spent time in Cancun, Mexico, indicating a pattern of international movement since allegedly absconding.
The Daily Mail has contacted New South Wales Police for further comment on the ongoing investigation and the implications of Johan's latest public provocation via the music video.
