A 37-year-old man has been arrested in Devon on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts, in connection with a series of attacks on Jewish sites across London. This arrest brings the total number of people detained since late March in relation to these incidents to 26.
Details of the Attacks
The attacks include arson at Jewish community ambulances, synagogues, a former Jewish charity, and an attempted arson at Finchley Reform Synagogue. Additionally, a drone incident near the Israeli embassy has been reported. Counter-terror police are investigating the potential involvement of Iranian proxies, noting that premises linked to opponents of the Iranian regime have also been targeted.
Political Response
Sir Keir Starmer and the Prime Minister have both condemned the attacks. Starmer emphasised the need for legislation to address malign state actors using proxies in the UK. The investigation continues as authorities work to prevent further incidents.
