Aberdeen Hospital Attacker Sentenced to Over Three Years After Corrosive Substance Assault
Shocking CCTV footage has been released showing the moment a man launched a horrific attack on hospital staff using a corrosive substance, resulting in a three-year prison sentence. The incident occurred at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary on October 10, 2025, forcing the hospital to evacuate and close for three hours.
Details of the Corrosive Substance Attack
Piotr Huczynski, a 37-year-old man, pleaded guilty to multiple charges at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in January, including assault and the reckless discharge of a firearm by spraying a corrosive substance. The attack took place around 5:30 PM in the Accident and Emergency unit, where Huczynski became agitated over long wait times.
In the newly released CCTV footage, Huczynski is seen using CS spray directly in the faces of a medic and a security guard. After three staff members blocked the entrance to prevent his escape, he pulled out the corrosive substance and aimed it at the workers before fleeing the scene. Despite being banned from driving until 2034, Huczynski sped away in a car following the assault.
Emergency Response and Hospital Shutdown
Emergency services were called to the hospital following reports of a disturbance and the assault of two individuals. The corrosive substance attack caused significant disruption, leading to the immediate evacuation of the facility and a three-hour closure to ensure safety and decontamination.
Inspector Katy Townhill commented on the incident, stating, "This was a reckless incident that resulted in two people being injured. Huczynski showed no regard for the welfare of others in the hospital, and he will now face the consequences of his actions."
